been playing around on the york county government permitting web site
interesting that when you click on the map and search for permits at Carowinds, you get them listed all the way back to 2010. Clicking on the project name lights up where on the map the project will be.

When I click on 2019 Project Alpha, the map lights up in 2 places...the area being graded with drainage, and a the huge section next to the road. I suspect the section next to the road being cleared matches the area on the map, and it's probably all drainage related. anyone else know?

This is the web URL of what I was playing with:

this is what it looks like on the map

It is interesting that both are on the same permit, it could be significant or it could just be that they wanted to save paperwork. I don't really foresee a tunnel but I could easily see an over and back across that small section of the parking lot....and yes there is room for that but still I highly doubt it will happen

I recall that same area being worked on for Carolina Harbor back in 2015.
Here is a pic that wormy posted...
It looks like it may have been drainage work related to the new exit, so I'm not sure

If the leaked layout is real, and I suspect that it is, the parking lot is far to large for the layout to cover. I'd have to agree with others that it's likely drainage similar to the ponds dug in 2014 for the renovations.
