I was at Dollywood on Monday for a quick day trip. I only had my phone with me so I couldn't get any good pictures of Lightning Rod since that entire area is now fenced off. It appears they are redoing some of that area of the park.

I forgot to include these two pics on my previous post. While I am still highly in favor of lots of trees/landscaping in amusement parks, there is an argument to be made against too many trees. When we were there on Monday, there were some occasional gusts of winds. Earlier in the day we were in the Country Fair and we almost bought something from the ice cream shop that was open. Later that day when we went back after the crowds thinned out the ice cream shop was closed.

They are doing a general refresh of the area around Lightning Rod and adding on to Red's to accommodate the bigger crowds currently and in the future.

Attended Dollywood for the first time ever around the same time you were there Arby and really had a great time. Customer service was far and away the best I've experienced at any park I've been to, Food was great, and my kids and I really enjoyed the coasters. Purchased season passes for 2016 and looking forward to riding Lightning Rod in the Spring.

Will Lightning Rod be open at the end of next month? I know it shouldn't be the only reason to visit Dollywood but I want to know if it will be open in time for spring break.

Word on the street, which Screamscape finally picked up, is that it'll be ready in April.

I wasn't sure at the time. But at least they are starting testing now. That's always a good sign. Hopefully they'll record some of the testing and post it so everyone can see.

I actually kind of expected that, hence why I wasn't in a rush to get there opening weekend I'll wait til mid April or May to go.
