Is anyone else nervous about the first drop on Fury? I'm going to ride it, but man, I'm gonna be nervous the first time. It'll be the tallest coaster I've been on by far.

I can only speak from personal experience, but when you're actually at the top of the lift you can't really tell how far you are above the ground. Like for me I-305 only feels marginally taller than Intimidator. Also, riding Leviathan and Behemoth at Canada's Wonderland back to back, I couldn't really feel a difference in the height despite the 75 foot gap. Maybe it's just me, but I bet it has something to do with how close other things are.

No reason to be scared though! Just hang on tight.

^^^ Same. For me, it isn't the actual drop that is scary, it's the suspence. On Griffon, the ride stops you while looking facedown and then drops you.

At one point, roller coasters used to scare me. But that was several years ago. Now I just put on the restraint and throw my hands in the air. The tallest coaster I've been on is Intimidator at Carowinds. I agree with Jay that, depending on who you are, the height difference may not be noticeable.

Same here. Both because it takes the living hell out of my stomach, and I grey out a little at the very bottom.

The only thing that is worrying me at this point is the coaster being complete by opening. It seems very little was done last week. As far as the drop goes, you may not notice much difference in the height, but you will certainly feel the increased forces as you do the inversions at a higher speed. This is what makes 305 so special. I hope our coaster delivers such a ride and they don't tame it. Not that I like extreme forces but I feel a coaster should be allowed to be what it was designed to be.

Guys, don't fret!! The brake run/station/lift sections are always pretty slow going. Once the lift is done, they will fly through the rest of the course, and considering lots of the coaster will be near the ground, it will be that much easier for them to piece together. It's all gonna work out.

When do you think vertical construction will begin?

When do you think the lift hill will start to be constructed?

When do you think the lift hill will be finished?

Guys, calm down. I hope I'm not sounding like a moody jerk posting this, but these things will happen when they happen. There's nothing wrong with asking questions, but asking the same one over and over won't speed the construction process along.

I have a feeling I'm going to need to use this a lot in the future...

It looks like we are currently running 5 weeks behind Leviathan's construction. It took them 6 weeks to go from the same stage we are currently in construction (Oct 2, 2011- Nov. 19, 2011) to finally complete the lift hill. If Fury follows a similar time line, and they start next week, the lift hill will be completed around the end of December.

The last piece of track was installed Feb. 7, 2012 (10 weeks later). So that put the last Fury track in around mid March.

Leviathan started testing around March 15th,(5 weeks later) That will have Fury testing around the middle of April.
