The e-tablets are definitely finding their place in the US market.

What I was raving about a few months back about manufacturers pricing them more affordable so everyone can get one is highly correct. Coby recently released their new grey, Android 2.2, 8-inch tablet, priced around $200. Last night, I watched the Home Shopping Network do about a 20 minute presentation on it. They started out with over 2,000 tablets and at the end of their presentation there were only about 600 tablets left. Now that's a WOW! if I ever saw one! People are buying the lower end tablets, and some of the call-ins confessed to owing more than one.

Of course the lower end tablets aren't as fast or as powerful as the higher ends, but just like all other new gadgets, once everyone starts making them, it's just a matter of time before we see the average high end tablets drop in price as well. Home computers started out the same way. But, let us not forget, there are many who will not buy a Lamborghini when all they need is a Hyundai - there is a market for the lower end tabs as well.

Barnes & Noble (B&N) is at it again.
On June 10th they will be releasing a new 6 inch Nook e-reader, weighing under 8 ounces, sporting not back lighting like big brother Nook Color, but digital ink. Are they after the Kindle's market which has the same technology? Maybe. From what I understand, the Kindle locks you in with Amazon.com's reading market and The Nooks locks you in with B&N, who just may be looking to convert Kindle lovers.

I prefer a nice back-lit tablet that will allow me to shop where ever I want (can you say apps), and read anywhere in the black of night. It's all about freedom baby!

The tablet wars are about to heat up again and it's getting crowded on the dance floor. Many companies, for some reason, have been waiting for the arrival of June and July.
Come on Toshiba and release that wonderful tab you promised...

If you like to compare prices like I do, you will find this site very helpful: http://www.nextag.com
Anyone know any others?

Finally, a name to go with Toshiba's first tablet. It shall be called the Toshiba Thrive. Instead of releasing as originally planned in June, the new date announced is for July 10th, 2011. Also, this is one of the first tablets sporting an Android 3.1 upgrade. My, what treats it must possess...I want some!

Toshiba sent out e-mails this morning at 3 AM (the same time shown on tablet ads - cleaver) announcing online stores that are now accepting pre-orders for their first tab, "Toshiba Thrive." Is any one else excited over this besides me? It's only the best tab ever!

Now accepting pre-orders:

Amazon.com
Best Buy.com
New Egg.com
Office Depot.com
Toshiba Direct.com

The company which produces BlackBerry seems to be up for sale. Bloomberg reports, while they do have a steady stream of continuous phone users, they aren't growing. Anyone know anything more on this news development?

My Tax Free Weekend warriors,
I'm sorry, I couldn't wait. I bought one of my gadgets early. I'm now the proud owner of the LG Thrive cell phone on the Android 2.2 system, and this phone is a pretty bad mutha! It is so responsive to my touch.

While uptown, eating a snack in McDonald's, I decided to activate the Wi-Fi capabilities. There are several hot spots in uptown Charlotte to choose: The Omni Hotel; public library; At&t, etc., and one is simply called, Internet. I couldn't help but giggle. The idea of me sitting in MickeyD's watching You Tube videos, reading emails, and simply speaking into the Google search engine to perform searches seemed like I was in another world. In case you haven't figured it out, this is my very first smart phone, and I'm feeling pretty smart for purchasing it. If I'm this happy over a phone, how will I be when I get my tablet?

The phone is loaded down with apps and some are undesirable. After trying, the sales associate told me he couldn't delete any that came with the phone, so, will some of you tech-savvy wizards please come to my aid and tell me how? Help with creating extra room for other things will be gladly appreciated.

Usually you can't remove those preinstalled apps that come with Droid smartphones. If you feel like you are really tech savvy, you can search the Internet for your phone and find some discussion forums out there. They can tell you whether or not your phone can be 'rooted' (essentially mind wiped and then installed with a clean version of the Android OS without some of the restrictions and software that the manufacturers and cell phone companies put on there). Beware, though, that any mistake doing this can potentially turn your smart phone into an expensive Christmas tree decoration so I don't encourage it.

So, it's probably best to leave it as is.
I saw a website where people are reprogramming a certain tablet, but my thoughts are, "How long will it behave, performing functions it was not created to."
Thanks for the reply. I'll leave it alone.
