^^Since Cobra is running, maybe they are for Cyclone? That would be wonderful. :D

I don't see that happening. Mainly because Cobra was built by Vekoma and Cyclone was built by Arrow.

I'm sure if Carowinds payed the right price, Vekoma would put their trains on Cyclone.

Arrow went bankrupt in 2002 and is owned by S&S Power now. Vekoma has supplied trains for Arrow coasters before (for example Vampire at Chessington World of Adventures) since they went bankrupt. If you go to the S&S website, they do not have the Arrow coaster types listed in the coasters they manufacture except 4th dimension (which is why they purchased Arrow).

Ok so before we all get our hopes and dreams up on this one....

I cant tell by the picture but are these being pulled out of the crates or loaded into them?

I ask this because they are the same exact color scheme as the train for Carolina Cobra. Could it be possible Carowinds decided to get an additional train for Cobra in case of needed repairs (over time) and spare parts? Or was there a "problem" with the train that was installed on Cobra and Vekoma sent a new train with the same scheme to match the existing one?

Based on the picture I find it extremely hard to believe Cyclone will get any new trains because 1) the season has already started, 2) the paint scheme on the train in the pic (while looking good on the new paint job) could cause issues with winterizing the ride since the trains of Cobra and Cyclone would be identical, and 3) there aren't enough cars in the pic for even one train on Cyclone yet alone two.

I would love to have the new Cobra style trains on Cyclone but am skeptical until I see more founding this idea to be true.

^They could be for next season. If they were to add them to cyclone this season, they could just close it for a month or two and it would be ready to go.

Cyclone and Cobra have completly different logos on the front. And I'm sure they storethem in different places so it wouldn't be as hard to distinguesh them as you think. I'm sure they would add some other decals on the front and sides.

Maybe all the cars haven't been delivered.

Arrow supplied the early Boomer trains (Knott's boomerang has arrow trains). Then Vekoma did their own. At least 4 different trains have been built for it by Vekoma, and there are like 2 or so Boomerangs that have trains on them from some other companie(s). One is lap bar only, and it looks pretty cool.

In short, they could put the Vekoma trains on the old Arrows, because the track gague is the same.

Ok so here are my issues with the pic jordN posted.

The cars/train in the pic do resemble the cobra's train bur do not have any OTSR's installed. I say this because when Vekoma delivered the train for Cobra it already had the OTSR's and padding on. (At least from my understanding of the pics) : http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.c ... Id=1127555

Furthermore, assuming that there are cars inside the two crates, which from the looks of things it does look like they are holding cars, there are only 6 cars. This is a puzzling issue because Cobra and Cyclone both have trains consisting of 7 cars long. (yes I know maybe all the cars haven't been delivered yet)

Look close enough at jordN's pic and you can almost make out a row number on the side of the one care and it looks like a 2,3, or an 8.

Given that Cobra is running this is certainly a mystery....where's Scooby when you need him. There is an easy fix though. If Carowinds really wanted to, they could remove Cobra's train, repaint the logo and stick it on Cyclone with this "new" train. And stick another train on Cobra (if we get a different color train). Then again two trains painted differently would go well with the "Identity Crisis" paint theme of Cyclone. That way they could leave Cobra's train alone.

IF we were to get new trains, it wouldn't take more than a week or two to install them and test them. Given that Cyclone has already passed safety inspections by the states, it wouldn't be too much trouble to add new trains test them and have the inspectors come and look over the ride a second time. It would actually go faster than you are making it out to be coasteraddict02. A lot of things would go unchanged- speed, G's, that sorta thing - just making sure the trains work correctly would be the big thing.

Hey jordN or Wormmy, can any of y'all keep us posted with pics if you get a chance and if anything happens like the arrival of more cars?

Surely they would not just send them extra trains for spare parts, I mean that would be expensive. Also factor in shipping costs, and wasted space to have just sitting around in a warehouse.

I could see them for cyclone, i mean the new trains on cobra got positive feedback. Correct me if i am wrong, but don't they come from overseas? Maybe there was a delay on shipment or some weird part was on backorder or something. That's why they are just now showing up.

I do agree with you that send them an extra train for Cobra is a little odd if not absurd if they were going to use them for spare parts. But it is possible if the train on Cobra was a prototype. I know for certain that Cobra's train was the first to be used in the US but I am not sure if the exact model has been used elsewhere. If it were a prototype (first of its kind in the world) then I can definately see a reason to send Carowinds a non-prototype model that was based off of the one Cobra currently has, I mean take in to account how many parts are on a roller coaster train and if Vekoma found a single miscalulation, while it may have worked, they would want to correct it be redoing the train and sending them a new one.

I know it sounds like I am being pessimistic but I would rather play it safe by watching-and-waiting method rather than jump the gun on this. Nothing was ever mentioned of this by Carowinds personel or employees. I know Blue and Anthony work over at Intimidator but I haven't seen them even curve wind to these rumors yet...prolly for good reason. Never the less, the arrival of the train in the picture is very intriguing, if not suspicious.

I do however think that within the coming weeks we will uncover more before anything is announced to the general public. As a past employee, I know Carowinds is very much about budgeting as much as it is a rumor grapevine city within the employees of the park. If we were to get new trains for Cyclone it could be the result of two things: the fast paced construction efforts leaving spare money in the jar (if this did happen) and the great public response, here and other media sources and the general public, to the train on Cobra and the public asking for similar trains on Cyclone. I can't tell you how many comments on the Carowinds facebook page asking for Cyclone to have trains like Cobra.

But again I am taking a wait-and-see approach.
