So glad to hear the ideal goal was achieved. I never met Max in person but it is beyond clear how much he meant to so many people. I was unfortunately unable to donate to this cause but I do plan on wearing the Max pin I got at WWU to media day.

I got a ride on the third train for $150 from what i can tell, but the auctions were not updating near the end, and i got an outbid notice for the same amount i had already auto bid up to. I'm still listed as the high bidder, this wasn't run the best way possible. Either way, i'm glad max will be able to get train row and seat one left empty in his honor. Does anyone have any other good ideas on what to do with the leftover money to honor max?

Yeah, i'm not sure if some of the users understood how the bidding worked, someone ended up with like 5 $140 seats. I'll be a little ticked off if people were driving up prices bidding on several seats that they never intended to pay for just because they got an outbid notice. It's for charity, and i'll be glad to ride and i'll pay what i bid as i'm very happy to be a first rider, but some people seemed to be going a bit crazy on bids that they may not be able to back up. Also, i got outbid notices when i was still the high bidder.

Thanks everyone! This was amazing.

To everyone who donated, I will probably be sending out an email later in the week. Since the donation was specifically for the auction I don't feel completely comfortable changing the use of the leftover money, so everyone will have the option of having the unused percentage of their donation refunded if they choose. For those who choose not to, we will work on some way to use it. Suggestions welcome.

Even though it was an auction for "a seat", the money I donated was in honor of Max with a charitable donation. If it doesn't go to the Cam Newton foundation, it should go to the fund identified by Max's family: Mount Home Graceful Giving Fund at 2272 Mt. Home Church Rd. Morganton, NC 28655.

PS. I hope the family knows about this honor he's received.
