General Carowinds discussion

^^I already know what they plan to do with this:

By looking at the owner "DEERE & COMPANY", they plan to expand the parking area next to Camp Wilderness, like I said a long time ago. The new parking area will be over twice as large and will encompass many trees inside and out so that it's not all open, but more like in the woods or something like that. They also plan to add around 15 new cabins, and the rest will all be renovated to match the new cabins they will add. The RV site will also be revamped. The check in building will also be revamped.
There is a lot in store for the campsite.

EDIT: they may also be doing something for the office area of the park. It is high time that that got a nice face-lift too. A new GM deserves a new office.

Do you have the source for all of that or is it just speculation based on bits and pieces we have gotten so far? I've been trying to get all the details from the park for 6 months or more but I have been told that they don't have all the specifics yet. When I stayed at the campground last week there was no significant work started.

What I said has come from the pdf files that feature all areas of future construction. They were posted about two months ago on one of these threads.
I was looking through them and I knew that we would expect some campground changes, so I looked in that area on the files and voila, I saw a planned parking lot and locations of new cabins.
Here's a screenshot of that image:

So there are plans to expand the parking lot, add more trees to the campsite and surrounding parking lot. Also a few trees along Carowinds Boulevard, and a few new and renovated cabins (I don't know exactly how many though, I'll guess between 10 to 15)

So based on that, most of what you said is still speculation and is nothing more than what I already know. I'm not Screamscape and won't write a story about what's coming to the campground based on that.

I'll wait until the official information makes its way to me.

Not saying things do not change. But the documents he's referring to are official final documents that have been approved by the city of Charlotte....

Most of what I found in those 2 PDF files regarding the campground say 'PROP.' which I assume to mean proposed. Most of what I see is in general terms and I don't see blown up details with the exact specifics like there are for the front gate. That makes me think this is the preliminary document that was filed with the city.

When I build on my property the city requires me to provide a sketch of the property and what I'm proposing so that I can get preliminary inspections for drainage, etc. They don't require the exact details until the first inspections are completed and approved.so that's what this looks like to me and what I was referring to.

I was just pushing back that the previous post made it sound like all of that was fact or close to fact and I was pointing out that to me it appears like it's speculation at this point. There does appear to be a good foundation for the speculation, though.

So Screamscape is reporting that Skyscraper @ cedarpoint is no longer listed on the challenge park website. So that got me thinking... possible relocation to carowinds where the game stalls are in thrillzone? seems like it would fit looking at google maps. would be a great spot for revenue. thoughts?

Now that would be an upcharge ride I could get excited about, but sadly I think my beloved Skyscraper is probably going to the scrap heap after a long tenure of service at three different parks.

But then again maybe it's just a mistake on the website.

Good night, sweet prince.

Just like how it appeared in the animation. In all honesty, I really like it. The way it looks like, it looks like the turnstile area will be the same as it was in the animation. Oh well, we'll learn to get used to it or go home.

When I went to CP on one of the busiest days the openness of the plaza and no turnstile or detector open entrance made it worth everything to walk right in with no issue or heavy lines. I'm excited for the new entrance at carowinds. As for skyscraper, I think the stall area would be to small being how long the arms are and how far the go out when it's in rotation, they'd really have to redo the path way into that area so no one gets slapped by a chair flying over the walkway.

While the old CP entrance is missed due to the pure tradition and history of the park, the new entrance is really welcomed! We went in 2013 and 2014, and it really is great!
