Hey does anyone notice a simalarity between the "horsecollars" on CC and the restrants on Superman: Ulltamate Flight?

hey i just had to point this out. In the announcment, they said in will be the SECOND tallest coaster in the park. What coaster do we know that is taller then 125 feet? Afterburn perhaps?

The new harness is a newer version of the "Horse Collar" if you will. The tops of the restraints will curve to the shoulders if tall or stay straight for younger/skinny riders. For us real men and women, the shoulder will bend to fit comfortably to our shoulders deminsions and chest areas! The harness itself is slimer and wider to fit riders better and offer more room over the previous crampt trains used on cyclone. Take a look at the picture and zoom in on it to see the big guy's harness vs. the little boy's harness!

That was an interesting read, good to see Vekoma's improving all of their restraints/trains for their coasters. I noticed they have a new restraint system for their Flying Dutchmans as well... I wonder if we could get some new trains for Nighthawk as well...

Anyway, back on topic, The new restraints look a lot more comfortable than the typical boomerang OTSRs. I've been on Superman: Ultimate Flight at Six Flags Great Adventure, and those restraints are very comfortable and uninhibited.

On a sidenote, the Observer contacted me for comment on the coaster. Seriously.

After reading the Charlotte Observer article posted in the other thread, a new issue has just come up in my mind. When I read that this was a $4 million investment, I assumed they were just using the original price of the ride in Ohio, since RCDB lists most boomerangs as $4-5 million investments.

Not so apparently. That article has $4 million as the cost of the project at Carowinds. Not to add more fuel to the fire for everyone who is upset at this addition, but for what it's worth, Ravine Flyer II cost $6 million.

The new Worlds of Fun one is $7 million. Gravity Group is typically the cheapest. Obviously the difference between $4 million and $6 or $7 is quite substantial, so I guess I wasn't necessarily suggesting that they could have built a new coaster instead, but just questioning an investment of $4 million into a used boomerang.

I'd rather they spent $2 mil on a Top Spin, or a Frisbee. It is simply amazing to me why the powers that be would spend that kind of money to relocate an old ride. This is one of those cases where it was not cheaper to keep her. There is no way in heck they are going to turn right back around and make an even larger investment into the part any time soon. If this were the case, they would not have spent all that money this year. It does not make good financial sense. For the next few years we will finally get the flats, unless of course they come up with another orphan. Cedar Point is running out of land, which means some of their older coasters will likely have to be removed for new ones.

I would have been happier with $4 million in renovations to the rides and park itself, rather than wasting that kind of money on a coaster like this? who runs this company...G. Bush?
