[quote="RacerAlex"]On topic I'd prefer the see any launch-style coaster in Carowinds' future to come from Intamin. I believe they're hitting the ball out of the park on rides like the aforementioned Maverick at Cedar Point.[/quote
I'm not trying to spam in all , I just want to say something. I think carowinds needs an intamin launch coaster aswell. No matter what type it is. I would honestly prefer it being a LIM Tiwister Impulse coaster. The Carolinas need one.

P.s. Don't get on me for this , but the more I look at the new track peices as they come in , the more I think it isn't a launch lift.

RacerAlex wrote:I loved the original White Lightn'in (although I was always a little on the fence if it was really a "roller coaster" as opposed to a "coaster-based" thrill ride). Big fan of modern launch coasters when the theming is well done - Incredible Hulk is brilliant with its hybrid lift design themed to be the gamma gun and I have Maverick on my list of coasters to ride. But then rides like Top Thrill Dragster and Kinda Ka tend to border on not being a roller coaster and instead crossing into a more extreme coaster-based thrill ride.

ok what makes coasters like ttd and kk and whitelightnin "coaster-based thrill rides" Because they are shorter than "regular" coasters? I think that is a new extreme of labeling coasters!

I agree 100%. "Newton is my co-pilot" as we say in my circle...

My 10 yr old & I were at IOA a few days ago & rode The Hulk for the first time....wow, that was so damn fun!! I'm surprised she even got on it at all- it's quite intimidating, IMO. But she loved it as much as I did & we both made it on x3. The launch was really ingenious, and the rest of the ride is a real hoot. Now I understand why those of you who were hoping for a launch on our new ride feel the way you do. I'd love to see a launch coaster of some type for Carowinds SOME day---sure don't want to seem greedy or anything . However, I still don't care to have one for the hyper, for reasons stated above by RacerAlex.

P.S. I have to agree about Kingda Ka being more of a 'coaster-based extreme thrill ride'. It was 100% about forceful speed and height for me; unlike "typical" coasters, the forward movement on a track seemed to be more a vehicle for the height and speed, rather than the point of the ride. Either way, it was a terrifying and exhilarating 45 seconds!
