I think more interactive splash zones couldn't hurt. Currently, there's only one real spot where half of the raft will get wet. Everything else is pretty blah.

I believe they toned down the waves after the first year of operation, as people were getting tossed about. Perhaps it is time to consider replacing the rapids with another flume ride, or some sort of water rollercoaster, if there is such a thing. The rapids ride to me is rather boring.

Carowinds used to have a water coaster but Cobra took it's spot.

I don't know what the general opinion on here is of the flying super staturator was but i loved it growing up and frankly i would rather have it and had the cobra replace something else

I think Carowinds will tell you they removed the ride because it cost way too much to run and maintain. If I remember right, I think the general consensus among us here at CC (correct me if I'm wrong) is they should have moved the coaster to the water park and only ran it during water park hours.

Seeing as how both water coasters by that company are no longer in operation, nor is the coaster that ran only in the waterpark at Wet N Wild operating, I doubt the cost to run and maintain them were worth it. Capacity was also terrible.

The one at Emerald Pointe was removed because the electrical components kept getting wet and short circuiting. The coaster was sold to Hard Rock Park. This information was told to me by Emerald Pointe's General Manager so the source is reliable, I was an employee.

I still don't understand why Cedar Fair doesn't invest in modern water coasters such as the two world record breakers at Holiday World.

This is sort of off topic: wasn't Pipeline Peak a record breaker in 2001 (if that is the right year)?

Also I got a ride in on the Rapids this past week. It seems to be one of the more popular rides at the park during the summer. The line was a good half hour on a week day.

No, Emerald Pointe's water coaster wasn't sold to Hard Rock. They are two seperate coasters. Emerald Pointe's coaster was a Caripro AquaFlyer model and Slippery When Wet/Soak'd was a Premier Rides Hydrofighter model - apparently the only one ever built from what I can tell.

I think people get them confused because 1) the track and layout are damn near exact copies of each other and 2) the name of the one at EP was Hydra Fighter II while the model at HRP was Hydrofighter.

Plus, Emerald Pointe didn't remove Hydra Fighter II until later on in 2007. I've got some pics of HRP being built somewhere that show the ride structure of Slippery When Wet being completely built around the same time.

I worked there in 2007, Hydra Fighter was already in pieces prior to the start of the season and pieces were being shipped out. As I said, the GM told me they had sold the ride to HRP. Futhermore, Caripo was sold to Premier Rides so I suspect that both models have some interchangable parts. I never said they were the same coaster exactly only that HF2 was sold.

What I heard was that Hard Rock bought it with the intention of installing it but that a lot of it was in bad shape so much of the track and supports was new fabrication. Who knows what is really true.

Let me shoot an email to the then Hard Rock Park GM and see what he remembers of it. Maybe it'll shine some light on the issue!

That didn't take long...

"Slippery When Wet was from Premier and was completely brand new from the ground up. This included the hydraulic lift."

That answers that.
