Someone mentioned getting a jr. hyper because a hyper is too tall and implied that it might be too thrilling (if that's possible) for the park goers of Carowinds. Did you know that most people will get on a 200ft. tall coaster with no inversions before getting on something like Top Gun? Going upside down tends to freak people out more than being 200ft. in the air for a brief moment.
I would love a hyper, and my favorite hyper is Raging Bull. That is the most spectacular B&M creation I have ridden. Apollo's Chariot is good, too, but man, Raging Bull is phenomenal. http://www.rcdb.com has some good photos of it, as does http://www.coastergallery.com. My favorite photo of the ride that really shows the convoluted track is HERE.
A twister style hyper like RAGING BULL would be nice, but Intamin is still my preference.
All the previous talk about height reminded me that the original Morgan hyper slated for Carowinds in 2002 was slated to be 206'. I can't remember the exact length but I know it was close to 4000'. So yes, the park was thinking BIG. The layout had it stretching from behind the log flume over to Scooby and in into the parking lot. Of course, seeing that back in 1998 had me on pins and needles with excitement. Then, it was decided to send it to PGA but the zoning council would not approve it. So, back in the box it went.
The hyper coaster dream for Carowinds may become a reality sooner than we think. And seeing how the park had already planned a 200'+ coaster back in 1998 (for a 2002 opening), means it's certainly possible that they could do it again. With more proven brands to choose from I can only pray they DON'T choose Morgan now.
