Kinda funny that this is the first coaster installation at the park that won't be a credit for me. I guess it had to happen eventually.

My feeling is that they know the GP have been wanting a coaster, since next year will be 5 years since Borg and they are just trying to hold them over until the next big investment.

Surely 2010 will see something big. Surely...

Next big Investment: Season Passes to Universal and Dollywood. lol

I went to the water park Sunday and you could see the track from the top of the green slide.
Well now its confirmed and even wikipedia has updated the carowinds page
Ride and attraction timeline

* 2009: Rumor (has yet to be confirmed by the park)-The Nickelodean Flying Super Saturator roller coaster will be removed and the Head Spin boomerang roller coaster from Geauga Lake will be added in it's place

check it out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carowinds#Roller_coasters

I still say something is better than another waterpark expansion I mean nothing. The fact that we are getting a roller coaster, and getting rid of a pile of yellow crap thrills me. While I hate to lose a water ride, Satie of a pile of crap. While, it is too early to tell what 2010 will bring, I am guessing either a kiddy area retheme, a new flat ride, and praying not for another waterpark expansion of any kind until atleast 2011. If I had to guess a year for a new coaster, it would be 2011, not 2010. The Nick License runs out in Summer 2010, so unless they just remove theme like they done with Afterburn and Nighthawk, we are looking at a Kiddy Area remodel yet again. There is my opinion for July 2008, it is subject to change, agree or disagree.

It's amazing how many times I have to explain this to people, but Wikipedia is a site that can be edited by anyone at any time. It is maintained by the people who read it. You or I or anyone else on this board or the world could have updated that page.

OK...since it seems that the park might actually read these boards, let's put our heads together and come up with a better name than Head Spin!!!

I nominate: Wipe Out! It's between the waterpark and Carolina Boardwalk. Fits perfectly.

And even though Vortex is a B&M, I wish they were replacing it instead of the FSS. Vortex is too rough. I honestly don't know anyone that actually rides it and enjoys it.

Paging Alan . . .

Not bad Wes, but I vote for . . .

ready?

HEAD ACHE.

Sorry, it had to be done.

I like Wipe Out, just like they wiped it out of Geauga Lake and into Carowinds. Roller Coaster 13 seems appropriate. HEAD ACHE, I'm sure, is closer to the truth. Even though I'm disappointed to get stuck with what was probably a good business decision to relocate Head Spin, I hate to say it, but I'll probably check it out next season .... I imagine the curiosity will get the better of me. It doesn't justify buying a season pass however; I bought a pass this season because this year's travel budget was tight. Instead of one visit to SFOG this spring for some decent thrills, I settled for a season of home park nostalgia and Scarowinds. Stopping on the way home from work to ride Afterburn from time to time has been worth it.

Not too broken up over losing FSS. I only rode it twice back in the day, just never could shake the impression that it was just a kiddie ride. Also curious, I wonder if environmental sustainability was a factor in its removal? Seems like a waste of water, especially while the Carolinas are still in a drought, although I assume the water was recycled (does anyone know)?

On a positive note, I'm wondering if CF is planning to install a shiny new hyper to coincide with the Nascar Hall of Fame opening in 2010. Not that I'm a Nascar fan, but the HOF should draw more than the usual batch of regional tourists to Charlotte, and CF might be actually motivated to get a piece of that action.

They better.

I wish the park would have at least given us a Firefall along with this thing. I don't care if Headspin was brand spanking new out of the factory, I would not travel to the park to ride it. Heck, I'm not even crazy about Two/Face, Face Off. Now I would travel to ride a Firefall or a Giant Frisbee. I am very disappointed with Carowinds. Until recently, have gone every year since 1978, but not anymore. I hope you Charlotte folk remain loyal and continue to support the place so the park won't close and maybe Fair will have mercy some day. IMO, Top Gun was the last attraction that excited me. Me, I just can't do it anymore. It is very emotional because I love the place. Now I know how the folk up in Ohio felt when they lost their park.

Well like I said in an earlier post concerning the Head Spin that is reportedly coming to Carowinds in 2009. I said I was going to post some pictures of the track that was reported to be seen in the parking lot next to Thunder Road. Well I forgot my camera...:( But I will say that there is track, light blue or turquoise in color there being laid out. If this is for the Head Spin, I am glad that Carowinds is just getting a new coaster, don't care where it came from.
