General Carowinds discussion

Probably 7th Ward/Asylum, a reaction to Fear VR. I guess Asylum themes will be no longer permitted.

Well I guess that answered my question about 7th Ward closing. I seen where Knott's Scary Farm closed their Fear VR due to it being insensitive to people with mental health issues. So I was wondering if it was going to affect 7th Ward. I'm glad they just changed it up some instead of closing it.

Having now done my first Scary Farm...SCarowinds ain't got nothing on Knott's. It's like a high school haunted house compared to KSF.

I was just reading about the haunt at KSF. I dont understand why people have to take everything so serious and cant have any fun at all with things. I dont think any attraction is made to criticize or make fun of or hurt anyone, its just a good theme for halloween. That maze sounded pretty cool if you ask me, I would love to have some kind of maze with VR at carowinds and being strapped to a wheelchair, or something else that you are "strapped" into and would be powered and go around would be great. Wish they could convert boo blasters during scarowinds into some kind of haunt.

I went through last night as a guest (I work there but it was my night off) and let me just tell you guys. Dark Harvest and Silver Scream Studios are the best mazes this year imo. Harvest had so much detail and it was fun and silly at some parts (especially the actors and the "butt nuggets" sign) but wow. I was sooo impressed! Silver Scream had improved from last year and is now even more like a movie studio. I love the Anubis character and the new spider cave with the leg ticklers! I was actually quite disappointed in my own maze, which I went through during a free flow. Talent was really lacking and no one seemed to be scaring, just staring (probably because I wasn't there ;D ). The new Circus scarezone is great too!!

We're going toSilver Scream Studios tonight. We haven't been through that one yet. My favorite was 7th Ward and I loved the Circus scare zone. Defex and Zombie High didn't seem scary to me at all.

I was unsure about Dark Harvest, but after trying it last night I stand corrected. By far the best maze currently at Carowinds. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone going. Without spoiling it, the ending is very... Surprising.

I can't remember anything surprising at the end...The beginning however.....
Guess I'll have to go back through.

I think, no matter how hard the scaractors try, every guest or group of guests will have a different experience in the maze because of the timing of the scares. That's not to say one guest experience is inherently "better" or "worse" than another, just different. I liked Dark Harvest and thought some of the scares were really good, especially the "surprise" at the end. But depending on timing, the surprise at the end wouldn't be so spectacular. It just depends on the size of the group going through and how they are spaced. That applies to all mazes.

Overall, I was impressed with the scare zones and the mazes. The Playground and London Terror seemed much better on scaractor-guest interactions than other zones. I would have liked to have seen a few more scaractors roaming the park outside of the scarezones and maze queues. Skeleton Crew is great, especially the trampoline team. The band in Harmony Hall was way too loud. I missed Blood Drums but wasn't really trying to see it either. Overall, I thought Scarowinds was really good this year. Hopefully I'll get down there one more time.

I still dont get the "surprise" you guys are talking about....Perhaps your talking about the scare on the porch?

You mean the surprise isn't one of Amos' long videos. :sarcasm:

I am not entirely sure the surprise I mentioned at the end of Dark Harvest is the same one Sean978 mentioned.

Can we all agree to try to hold back on spoilers until after the season?

Yes, please hold the spoilers. Some of us have not been yet but I'll be there on the 14th.
