General Carowinds discussion

I would like to see a GCI fill the DA area. I think that would be a good place, nestled between intimidator and afterburn. I think that an RMC could fill the space of RRR if they decide to scrap the ride. Something like Goliath at SFGA or maybe something along the lines of twisted timbers or wicked cyclone. A woodie and an RMC are definitely in carowinds' future.

I've read a couple posts about not wanting to RMC the Hurler. Why not? Twisted Timbers is a hit at Kings Dominion and it would be way more cost effective than building a new coaster. What am I missing?

As for RRR I hope they find a way to keep it. With it being the only water ride outside CH it would be a shame to see it go. However, with that being said if they cannot increase capacity I would rather see it go than remain as it is.

Originality. Well, at least for me that's my reason for not wanting them to do it at Carowinds. I'd rather see unique, park specific additions vs carbon copies.

Agreed. Hurler is the only one of its kind now, so leave it be. I have some fond memories of that ride as a youth and I'd rather see a new woodie in the park before Hurler gets the RMC.

^ Well, not quite lol.

But what I mean is, if they are gonna do something either replace it all together or leave it. NO need to turn it into the same ride a few hours away.

Technically it was, but just not in the typical fashion. They did a full retrack.

The hurler deal has a few points:
It's the last remaining bit of the wayne's world area (even though there is none)
If it were RMC'd, it would leave a lot of unbalance in the park since it's right next to fury.
it's also not a bad ride, and they're doing all they can to make it as smooth as possible.

with that said, i doubt it will go soon.

All RMC did to the ride was a (traditional) re-track andbitvwas running perfectly last time I ride it afterwards. People forget that RMC is a construction company (they built El Toro) and have experience in wood coaster tracking.

As for RMCing Hurler, my sources say no and highly unlikely. It’s not most cost effective to have them come in, in fact, it typically costs tens of millions of dollars. It’s not a simple, cheap thing.

The thing many seem to forget is that RMCing Hurler would be equivalent to building a new attraction, not merely upgrading one. On top of that, it’s still the fourth most popular attraction in the park, its location next to Fury doesn’t negate that.

It would also cause major unbalance in the park, since it's right next to fury. If you RMC'd it, you have the two best rides in the park right next to each other, causing everyone to flock to only one area.

To be fair Cedar Point has their best two coasters right beside each other. I feel like with a Copperhead, Intimidator, and Afterburn all in their own areas crowds would t get too off balance

The "best ride" is very subjective and varies from person to person so if they wanted to they could have an RMC'd hurler. But, the reason they probably wouldn't isn't because it's next to Fury.

yeah, i'd like to see a ground up RMC or GCI in the DA area, since it's not right next to a huge coaster, and it'll bring more guests to that area of the park.

Because carowinds needs a new wood coaster with a twisty layout.
