Don't expect it to be opened at winterfest. Its definitely possible the ride will be assembled mostly, or maybe even fully, but they will not open it. I think it was back at the beginning of the season, there was a news broadcast that stated they would return in 2019, correct me if I am wrong though. Plus the 'surprises" in the coming months for Blue Ridge Junction will be announced in the coming months, so that right there proves it'll be 2019 Maybe Winterfest next year, they will have it opened.

Ridding the flyers in winterfest in the middle of a construction site would be odd

Well it was listed on the 2018 Rider Safety Guide as “Coming Soon” so it’s definitely possible.

If I were a betting man, and I am, I would say they will NOT open until 2019. Yeah, there's that thing that says it opening in 2018 but weren't there also 5 rides sanction for carowinds for the 2017 season as well? Things change and I, for one, can wait until 2019.

Wasn't Cedar Fair supposed to be going on a second search for foreign flat rides to bring to their parks? Maybe they're in the process of deciding what's going to Carowinds and a couple of those will be part of these mysterious 2019 surprises? I certainly hope so.

I think the tides have shifted and they probably got all they could. It would be interesting to see what else they can dig up! But if that's at the expense of shinny new rides like COpperhead Strike, then forget those rides! lol

That's about the only reason that would make sense for them to not have any sort of rendering of the new theme area when they announced it.

As far as launch speed goes, I'm not that well traveled so I have to defer to folk who are. Most enthusiast are blown away by what they saw on ride clips. A trained eye is not going to be that far off the mark. I even noticed the copperhead clip on TPR has a lot more views than the other two coasters announced last week. Apparently there is a lot of interest in this ride.

I just can't wait for the insane hangtime on the inverted top hat! This ride looks like so much fun! I sound like the GP right now, but I'm just excited for 2019!

Not sure if this has been posted yet but the park has added a blog entry on Copperhead Strikes construction so far:

They mentioned drilling phase to be completed in October and vertical construction will begin late September.

That’s a dispatch every FORTY-EIGHT seconds. Pretty optimistic but if it has no seatbelts, full staff, no bins (it shouldn’t), and no large guests slowing things down (it will), then it is still best case scenario. Still should have better throughput than a two train woodie or RMC.
