General Carowinds discussion

I don’t think Carowinds really “needs” a new wooden coaster, or any coaster in general. Cedar Fair will just continue to add rides that make a profit.

In terms of things the park is truly missing, there’s not enough shade, there are no full-service restaurants, and there’s a lack of indoor attractions for a park in the Deep South. I’d be fine if the park took a decade break from building coasters in order to fill in some of the gaps.

You're right, another dark ride would do some good, or possibly an indoor flat ride. I would just like to see a new coaster in the next 5 years or so.

This just came to mind: A HUSS top spin? Carowinds? I remember seeing Crypt at KD and thinking it was absolutely insane! Carowinds could add that to strengthen their flat ride lineup! However, I don't keep up with HUSS and all them, so I don't know if cedar fair or even HUSS would even build it since that ride type is kid of old.

They are still building top spins. Six flags just installed like 4 of them. Granted it looks different and has a new name but it's a top spin.

Personally my favorite type of flat ride with the frisbee being 2nd. I'd be happy if both were added.

Practically the same. Just advanced honestly. Whatever it's called, we need one.

as cool as it would be to have a tourbillon in the cedar fair chain, you got these awesome rides at six flags and cedar fair doesn't notice them for about 5-7 years. it's like what happened with steel vengeance. Cedar fair sees these sick RMCs and chooses to build a dive. then a few years later THEN they build the RMC.

Six Flags is not Cedar Fair, and CF is trying to phase out Top Spins like they did thechance chaos because they’re maintenance nightmares. Also SF hasn’t been adding Top Spins either.

Krypt is the last remaining Top Spin in the chain I think. It’s one of the newest models as well, and I think is a bit more reliable than most.

Regardless most US parks don’t deal much with Huss as much anymore since they constantly file for bankruptcy and reorganize.

something along the lines of a topspin or tourbillon at carowinds would be cool, especially if it had theming like crypt at KD

Unpopular opinion but Top Spins are trash.

Mondial makes a Fallover and a Splashover. Similar ride, but different mechanisms and mfg. from what I understand the Mindial rides are much more reliable than top spins...which are indeed trash as far as the actual ride goes. But they can be fun. They’re just expensive to maintain.
