There is supposed to be some sort of announcement at the Cedar Fair board meeting in Charlotte next week regarding future plans. Hopefully that will include another big coaster for Carowinds.

In my mind, I don't see us getting a coaster next year. I think we'll either get one of 3 things:
1. Waterpark expansion
2. A new flat in the field in front of Intimidator
3. Dinosars Alive
I hope either 1 or 2 Happens, but as much as I hate to say it, I think we're getting stupid dinosaurs alive.

I don't see us getting a flat ride in front of Intimidator quite yet. I think we will get out next big attraction (roller coaster) before they use the land in front of Intimidator for a flat ride. I think we are getting a new slide in the water park next year and Dinosaurs Alive. Remember almost every park got Dinosaurs Alive and something else that season. We should also get an Afterburn repaint in the off-season as well.

That's a good question. I honestly have no idea where they would put dinosaurs alive to where it would be a part of the park. Maybe the parking lot beside Afterburn/ThunderRoad?

As for the other attraction, if we get a new water slide they would probably take out the smaller wave pool. Since we got the bigger one there's really no need to keep it when a big slide could fit in that spot.

Have the Dinosaurs Alive attractions been profitable? I can't see people paying money to walk through a bunch of lame animatronics more than once

Unfortunately one could easily fit a Dinosaurs Alive attraction in the Intimidator field/dora train area. I don't think anyone rides that train anyway.

^^^Most waterparks of any note have 2 wavepools these days. It increases capacity and helps make sure one doesn't get too crowded. The original wavepool won't be leaving any time soon.

As for Dinosaurs Alive, in all of the other parks they have it in a "out of the way" place. Intimidator's Field is much too front and center for such a thing.. unless they didn't charge for it.

The one place I can think of where it could be placed would be where Joe's Cool Driving School is. Hopefully that won't be where they place it though. Not sure if that is enough space though since iv never seen the other Dinosaur Alive. If that was the place, they might have to move Camp Killawee.

I agree with JJ on both accounts. As for Carowinds, we do not have a good out of the way location such as KI and KD does. Hopefully, that will keep it away from us. One possible location would be wooded area just south of Thunder Road along Carowinds Blvd. They could possibly put a few along the road as a teaser from the road. It is a separate admission so those seeing it could be directed to the back with separate parking for it. The problem is that is is not directly connected to the inside of the park which aids in advertising and pulling people into it. I do not think that would be the case in that location, just a thought. Another area might could be along the season pass processing area in the area by the entrance walkway with the entrance near the bridge where the season pass processing use to be. They would put a high fence there with dinosaur sounds and teasers along the walkway as you enter from the regular parking area. That area might make more sense.

Good idea, let's move on to another new for 2012 idea and maybe the possibility of the Dinosaurs coming will go away as I am guessing most of us would rather not have them be the 'new for any year' attraction. What we really need are a pair of Heege Freizeittechnik Butterflys.

You described them well. Those things look awesome but a bit scary. A few good videos of them on You Tube.
