The Banshee looks like a great ride, and I hope Carowinds will also get something good. I have always loved Top Gun/Afterburn, but Ohio is a bit of a drive for both KI and Cedar Point. Especially CP. But I do enjoy Skyline and Goldstar Chili when I am up there, and Frisch's Big Boy. Definitely need to plan a trip next year to ride Gatekeeper and Banshee. And always Millenium Force.

Gatekeeper is a lot of fun, but the restraints were not very comfortable, so I'm curious to see how the restraints for Banshee will feel on the ride. Back to carowinds, other than the parking lot next to Thunder Road, where else could we build a coaster without tearing anything down? I know this might come out as a stupid question.

For park expansion the only way I see building something big without tearing anything down would moving the parking lot to the new land closest to I-77 and pushing season pass parking on the new land on its side making an "L" shape lot. That'll be PLENTY of room for a big and new section or two of flats and restaurants. Then again this is Cedar Fair they're good with building rides on top if each other being cedar point literally have any land left. I wish carowinds had a lot if land like KI and KD. I just want a maXair at the park and maybe a skyhawk. One can go in front of intimidator and the other in action zone or in the vortex plaza probably if you remove the pointless midway game huts lol.

They are supposed to be redesigning the restraints on Gatekeeper. As for Carowinds expansion, relocate part of the parking area at the front and build a big new ride. Hopefully a Gigacoaster. Possibly tear down the Palladium which is now seldom used. But we shall see, as it does appear as if they are planning something. But is it for 2014 or do we have to wait until 2015? August is usually the month when big announcements are made, and I haven't heard of any press conferences being called for yet.

A giga coaster would be nice but after riding Verbolten and Griffon recently at BGW, I want either a Launch or dive coaster. And more flats definitely.

I am still shaking my head at the whole giga deal that keeps coming up. Nothing about it makes sense for Carowinds anytime soon. I think most would agree when we do get our next big coaster (I still say it will be 2015) then it should be a launcher. I am not an Intamin fan myself for multiple reasons so I would prefer something very similar to bluefire megacoaster in Germany by Mack. That won the 'best launcher' question when I asked it on a roller coaster Facebook page that I run when I asked it about a year ago.

I think launch coasters are over hyped. Not the LSM launches but the 400 ft tall mechanical nightmares that gives a little short 5 second thrill.

Couldn't find anything that looks like they could be building a giga. When during the 2009 season was the Intimidator started?

I completely agree. I think they could easily build a launch coaster in the parking lot next to Thunder Road but for the woodie, I just can't think of where they could build it without tearing something down. Personally, I could see Xtreme Skyflyer and the go-karts taken down and a second woodie being built by Hurler. But then that would take up Silver Scream Sinema's space.
