General Carowinds discussion

With an upgrade of the area around the coaster could that possibly include a remodel or tear down and rebuild of the Wings restaurant? I mean it would be nice to see it turned into a smaller Harmony Hall with a full bar that offers "grannys secret" for purchase right across from the Mack double launch

I doubt it. They just upgraded the interior (and re-painted the exterior too) as part of their 2016 County Fair addition.

Personally, as a huge movie fan, I hope Wings sticks around for as long as possible. It adopted that name during the Paramount years and it's loosely themed to the 1927 film Wings, which was actually the first to ever win Best Picture at the debut Academy Awards ceremony in 1928 (note the date above "Wings" in the image below). I think it's really cool that Carowinds has a restaurant themed to such an important, classic film. Especially since it has dual meaning thanks to the Wright Brothers and the nearby Flying Cobras ride. Really rad!

Sorry for double post in advance
My mom pointed it out that the hill may be old filler dirt that they will use for the hotel/new coaster

Yeah, they didn't have that hill there for the looks. They knew this hotel was likely coming down the line and they kept the dirt around for this reason.

It's a huge eyesore, so I can't wait until it's completely flattened. :)

Looks like only two containers. And since it is so many "packages" I would think it is more material/equipment . . .

Maybe it will be the largest announcement because the ride might have a lot of theming something like The shed and a crossroads upgrade.that might cost more than fury

Saw this, "Zimmerman, who took over as Cedar Fair's CEO at the start of the year, said in a news release that, in particular, strong attendance and revenue trends at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, Calif., in the first quarter have continued through the July 4 holiday weekend. Demand also remains strong at Cedar Point where the company recently opened a new 158-room tower at its Hotel Breakers property along Lake Erie.

"We believe this demand will continue as advanced reservations at our resort accommodations for the second half of the year are up when compared with the same period in 2017," he said in the release. "The expansion of our resort facilities will be a key driver of increased revenues over the long-term as we open additional hotels adjacent to Carowinds in Charlotte, North Carolina, in late 2019, and Canada's Wonderland, near Toronto, in 2020"

So, based on that statement that the hotel won't be finished until after the busy season, and so the new coaster won't be the big push with the hotel imo.

I think the announcement is Coperhead Strike for next year. Flyers relocation and some area theming. Also a multiyear investment, the hotel late next year. A sports complex in 2020, and another new coaster or revamping of existing coaster for 2020.

If they wipe out the Dinos & put something else in they better NOT cut the Trees.... Some very nice big shady trees in that area.

Is it a coincidence that Taylor from Coaster Studios who visited the Mack Rides plant in July is going to Carowinds today(August 7th) to take footage of construction? Today is the day the Mack parts are supposed to arrive

I'm not sure thats track. says theres only 2 containers. If it is track it may just be the few pieces for the station so that construction of the station can begin.

10400 kg (from the shipping info) is 23000 lbs. if it's not track, it's something else heavy.
