OK, I can't pass this one up......If you look at RCDB.com, you will see Cyclone was built in 1980. We are in 2009. 2009-1980=29. The 30th anniversary is next year, which has been discussed on the board. A paint job doesn't erase 10 years of eroding, just like lipstick on a pig doesn't make it taste different when fried.

First of all, even though I think it is a miserable coaster to ride (as is all similar coasters, maybe since I am past 40 now, lol) I hope they never remove the Cyclone nor do I think they will. Like has been mentioned before, it has history as being the first coaster with 4 inversions. Although that record was very short lived as it was soon shared out in Missouri. It has it's 30th anniversary coming up as well. It is very interactive with the park and paths plus it takes up a fairly small footprint. It needs to stay for sure. As for Hurler, I am still not understanding where why so many do not like it. As long as you ride the first car, I think it is a great woody. I am a big, big fan of preserving the older and mixing it in with the new. In lots of avenues in life I might add, so the Hurler needs to stay as well. It just needs some tweaking here and there. As for what I feel might be removed, well, as for a coaster, my choice is the Vortex. Unless they change to different car styles (such as floorless, or simply new sit down B&M cars, or something similar) then that one can go. It is also miserable to ride. I would much prefer it would be reworked as I just mentioned, but if not, it could go. As for a non-coaster ride, I also feel, as others have mentioned, that the Action Theater could go. Would much rather see a cool flat ride go there. Carowinds is lacking a great, high thrill flat ride for sure. Then again, the theater does provide a 'show' of some sort, which is an area the park is somewhat weak in, compared to some other parks, plus it provides a cool down on a hot day.

It would make no sense to get rid of the Theater for an outdoor flat. If the theater is removed a new 4-D ride should be put there. One where the cars move to different screens inside the place. Or where mist and heat are used like Spiderman @ Universal. I also agree Vortex needs to go. A dive coaster like Griffon could EASILY occupy the spot where Vortex is and be 30x better as a coaster. Out with the Vortex, In with the dive machine I say.

I will say amen to that as well. As for the theater deal, yes, I agree also, better to leave it and rework it, instead of tearing it down. I guess I contradicted myself when I was talking about leaving the old and making it better then I made that comment about the theater so thanks for pointing that out.

Okay, leave the Hurler- but for the love of all that's good and holy, let GCI take a crack at it. It's appeal is dwindling at a pretty high rate and before long it will be too late to change people's opinions about it. Every time I see it it's a walk on, and nobody I go with wants to ride it either.

Also, how about more thrill in the thrill zone?

GCI could make about any ride, anywhere on earth better. Even a kiddie steel coaster in Greenland. They are awesome. Great idea.
