General Carowinds discussion

Sugar is energy, and the horsepower of the hydraulic motors generally used for a launch coaster are going to be somewhere close to 530 each.

I'd say it could also be the track length of the headlining element (ie, a 530 ft "coil"). But the 530 is given as an ingredient you start with, not part of what you do while "cooking". And it's given along with a completely different ingredient of 3255, which is assumed to reference the track length. Surely they could come up with a better stat than a second reference to the track.

I cant' wait for the 30th so we can see what this ride will look like in the park. Carowinds has slowly been transforming into a THEME Park, away from an amusement park. Hopefully that trend continues into 2019.

County Fair felt even more immersive than some parts of Knott's, so if this new Crossroads section can somehow manage to do the same, I'd be beyond thrilled.

When was the last coaster to boast about total launch track length? That's just not one of the key superlatives when it comes to coaster stats. . .

Fine, I'll rephrase that:

County Fair felt almost as immersive as some parts of Knott's.

Now don't you ever use a Titus Andromedon gif against me again... :evil:

"stir completely around the pot a second time" immediately made me think of a roller coaster that goes through the same track twice - i.e. a boomerang. I put it in quotation marks because I wasn't just thinking of the traditional Vekoma Boomerang model but also wanted to include shuttle loopers like White Lightnin'. I'm not sure if there's a word that's more general than boomerang, but that's what I meant.

No, the wording on the Carowinds teaser definitely doesn't make me think of that type of ride, but it is cool.

It reminds me of Phobia Phear Coaster at lake Compounce :o I haven't been on many rides like that.

42mph would be 150ft in 2.5 seconds, 75ft when factoring in the acceleration from zero . 530ft would seem to be way too long for the launch component, wouldn't it?
#102552
Bare with me . . .
We have the speed and time, from that we can get the rate of acceleration (pending if we launch from 0mph).

2.5s=18.78/x^2

So, the rate of acceleration would be 6.83 m/s which is a launch pulling about .25 G's.

Now, with that being said, to calculate the distance traveled we do this.
x=1/2(6.83m/s)(2.5s)2

That comes to about 21m which converts to aprox 70ft launch so yep, the launches combined would probably not be over 200ft.

I know 42 was in a teaser but is it the confirmed speed?
