General Carowinds discussion

^^^^So quick to shoot down, July to March is nearly 9 months. The time it takes RMC to do the work. Plus Thunder Road is a simple out and back which would Burma Shave time off, 2+2=4 in my opinion. But the vast majority of clue are pointing towards a water park expansion. My problem is North Gate only took 5 months, it isn't going to take 4 months to claw Thunder Road death. Waterpark gates tend to much simpler in design than amusement parks.

Furthermore what about the possibility that one side gets converted(parking lot side) and waterpark side remains classic Thunder Road effectively dividing Thunder Road into 2 marketable coasters. They did say "last race", the "Big Splash" could be the announcement. Plus now they are saying "Big Splash and more", back in 2001 Carowinds got Pipeline Peak and Haunted Mansion, just this year we got Fury 325 and Slingshot.

This, however would further put Afterburn into a "far corner" of the park if you're a front-gate person. It's too far back to put the queue line starting at the Goose pond (or whatever we're calling that water feature.) If snoopy takes over dino-land, that pushes Afterburn even further into a land of it's own. I'm not sure what the solution will be there. (Move Afterburn?)

I'm not sure that a Snoopy expansion would have to be that large. They could redo Dino's as a new County Fair with new and relocated flats and closer to Afterburn and use a few corners near Snoopy to expand that area as well. There's a lot of land there, especially down by Woodstock to expand upon and still have the same amount of room that currently exist in the County Fair area.

As to a 50% chance of TR staying.. not sure about that. I think Carowinds has made up its mind and there's a 100% chance that whatever they've already decided upon will happen. I guess you could flip a coin as to TR staying in some form or going and there would be your 50% chance of being right.

My guess is it's leaving. But, you never know. TR being "retired" might be the correct TERMINOLOGY. Maybe the structure IS being saved, the current ride "retired", and will re-emerge "AS A NEW RIDE". I think Carowinds is being VERY careful about the semantics they use in their phrasing. No matter what happens, I think it will be awesome enough that I will be saying "TR had a good run but I'm glad they did what they did." -- whatever that is.

^^^You forgot to highlight family-fun, oh wait RMC height restriction is 48". oh wait, My daughter has meet that requirement since last Fall. She was six at the time, but is now 7 and loves Cobra and Cyclone.

"That may explain why Six Flags has decided to dismantle the coaster to make way for a new attraction."

I think this (or a rerouted bridge/path connecting TR to the small area between Whitewater Falls and Boo Blasters) would be a great way to allow for expansion all around TR -but still keep it in the park for families to enjoy.

Another, albeit unlikely, thought occurred to me. What if Thunder Road will be SBNO rather than being demolished? What if they need the space around it for construction and plan to RMC it in a couple years but don't want to deal with it's operation during that time? Then they can address how to reconnect it to the park once everything is said and done. Told ya' it was unlikely...

BTW, Petition update: over 4300 signatures.

Whatever you are reading into this statement, someone else is reading the exact opposite...
Quoting it isn't gonna change that. :)

I had a dream (this was the night after the TR announcement, so last Sunday(?) night) that TR was split in 2, one side stayed the same and the other side was converted by RMC. I think in my dream the right side was converted, but that makes less sense... Anyway, now that somebody has actually suggested it, I guess it does have a slight chance of happening, so I want to share it now so that I can be like "Ohhhh my dreams predicted this, I'm psychic" if it happens.

Also, I like the idea of keeping the south gate pretty much as is, and making 2 paths, one t the water park and one to the test of the park (:
