General Carowinds discussion

Why would you add a train? The train was long gone so I personally feel if you are to capture the entrance as it last was, with the metal detectors and all...there is no rreason for a train...

Cancel that order...

I kind of agree with Jarvis here. Either the metal detectors or the train. But then again, I am not putting my hard earned money and time into this amazing project so do whatever you want. You haven't disappointed yet!

I have been mixing the old with the new on the entire project. Besides, it has already shipped and is well on its way. Besides, Mike thought it would be a good idea anyway...

I finished painting the engine and tender:

Next I'll paint the carriages. Also, I visited Biltmore Estate on Friday. If you'd like to see video, it will be up on my channel by morning.

The train is now finished and awaits installation! I think it looks really good. Well worth the $120.

and just for comparison...

Amazing! I do like your idea of blending old with new on this project as it should represent the full heritage of Carowinds. Just a suggestion (unless you had this in mind already), do you think that you could have little cards surrounding the model giving fun facts about the park?

I've been following your model and I love the train addition. You nailed it. I was five years old when I first rode on that train. I was seven when it was removed. That brought back a lot of memories. Keep up the good work!

Tarheel, If you've seen the model in person (or images of the base I have posted), there are two empty spaces on the base where I will have signs as well as info about the park. I have planned it from the start. You spoiled my surprise!
jk, jk. but yeah, I planned to do something like that when I first started on the project.

I think Mike wants the train back in the park just dont see, just yet, where it would go. There isn't a nice forest area for it to go thru unless they purchase the land behind hurler if not already owned and some how have the route go thru that heavily wooded area for a quiet ride thru the woods. I also dont see places within the park that a train can cut across very easily without running into a ride or building structure. I dont mind the train cutting across the midway tho. I look at as traffic control. I know BGW and CP train cuts across the walkway in different locations in the park.
