Why close Dinos in mid-August?

Unless they are using the trail for Scarowinds or the Great Pumpkin Fest... Or maybe Winterfest.

If they don't use the trail for any of those, then I think we can start speculating...

Very curious...

World’s of Fun closed their Dino’s in July ‘18 (earlier than the typical October) and nothing has taken its spot. I’m not reading much into when it’s closing as an indication of a sooner than later replacement.

We are planning to go either August 11, 17, or 18. Saturday has longer hours, but I assume is more crowded. Do you think Saturday or Sunday is better for doing more rides, assuming we stay from opening to closing? Thanks.

Edit: We are not interested in the water park or kiddie rides.

4 years ago Thunder Road gave its last ride. I was looking through my pictures and ran across this one of a lot of us from CC

Sundays are typically slower than Saturdays, especially in the before-church-gets-out hours (before 1pm or so). Also, the 18th is the Sunday before schools start back in the South Carolina area around the park, so you probably won't see too many people stay late (or come at all) that day.

Alright, so just in case there was any doubt, they are definitely expanding the parking lot. It looks like this permit was updated as recently as five days ago:

It appears that they never got around to starting it in 2018, but this permit is still live. I'm sure they'll officially announce it when they announce their plans for 2020.

The 18th may be the Sunday before school starts in South Carolina but most of the schools in South Carolina in the mid-state area don't start back until Wednesday of that week. Not sure of the schools in the York county area.

Fort Mill school district starts that Monday. Can't speak for Rock Hill, etc. Looking at Charlotte's, they don't start until the next week.

Again, though, Sundays are already a slower day when compared to Saturday, and no one should have trouble getting in all the rides they want - even without a FastPass.

Aight so for the people missing a water ride in the dry park, the fountain right inside the water park in front of beachcombers is a great way to cool off. Doesn’t get you soaked.

Standing under a fountain and riding a water ride aren’t the same you ****.

That’s like riding the coaster coin ops machines at the mall when you want to ride Fury 325.

Language! I want a regular water ride as much as anyone else, but I’m just saying that that fountain is probably the best thing we got at the moment.

It would not surprise me at all if water rides start fading out across a lot more parks. With on site water parks included with admission, it makes more sense to let that handle the wetter side of things. Personally, I’m all for this. The last thing I want to do is get soaked in my regular clothes which will stay damp all day and risk damaging any electronics that I’m carrying with me.

I understand that there are those of you who “DoNt Do WaTeR pArKs”, but I’d be surprised if the park built any more water rides in the dry park.

While water attractions at least here in the states seem to be on the decline, next year we’re probably going to see a Mack Powersplash added, SDC and their new rapids, Infinity Falls last year. As far as other parks in our region: KD still has 2, BGW 3, SFoG 2/3 if you count Monster Mansion, and Dollywood 2 (rip Slidewinder). With that in mind I would like to see our rapids hang around, not everyone wants to get stuck in a hot crowded water park with $20 or whatever locker fees to cool off.

Now if we can keep those wet bathing suits from coming into the dry park and sitting on rollercoaster seats, we'd all be set.
