so far the new entrance is looking great. not a big fan of the number of planters though.

I think it looks crowded because we aren't there in person. Looking at the plans, they are about 30' apart and there is plenty of room to walk around. It is really hard to get a sense of scale from looking at those camera views. The state line that runs down the middle should be about 2' wide when they get it done.

I, for one, am happy to see planters going in and some live vegetation. One of the reasons that I quit going to Carowinds for years was because it felt like an overpriced carnival in the middle of a parking lot. Everything was hot asphalt. One of the reasons that I love going to places like BGW and WDW is because it has lot of green space and flowers.

Finally, they are planting trees and really trying to beautify the park. I honestly think that when this is done we will be shocked when we see it in person and realize exactly how much has been done to improve Carowinds. It really is going to be the destination place it deserves to be.

I was actually hoping to see a lot more greenery in the new entrance. When I saw the animation, I was already excited to see more trees. Now with this, I am all the more happier.
Also, there will be trees and vegetation in the parking lot (which I'm sure you have all already figured out). That will make it look so much better. Some shade in a parking lot is ALWAYS appreciated. Kudos to you Carowinds.

Looks like it's being repoured.

It also looks like they may be adding a concrete ring around the planters as well. Seats hopefully...

The arbors on the rest of the circle are being added as well.

Kinda looks like they decided the orginal two planters were too big, the new ones match the planters on the other side of the bridge.

The rings look too far from the cinder block to be benches, paver guides is likely. Looks like electrical conduit is being put in place for the turnstiles.

I was under the impression there would be no turnstiles, just scan and walk in ala Cedar Point.

Yeah, those are called optical turnstiles, so, it's still an turnstile.

I've heard rumors for the Coke Marketplace but is that for sure/confirmed? Does Carowinds have one last surprise up their sleeve?
