General Carowinds discussion

Jonathan, sadly I think the answer is both. I really think we as enthusiasts should have respect for the park. It is one thing to look over the fence but it is another thing to actually cross the fence even if the park provides a "ladder". Does that make sense?

Perfect analogy.

I cant imagine the park giving him the logo a day ahead of time and saying "here's the logo for our new coaster that we're unveiling tomorrow. Post it to your facebook page and tell everybody to spread it." Something smells about the whole thing.

I think the one piece of information the park has that we definitely wont know until thursday, is when we might be riding this thing.

I originally planned to get out to the to south east hypers this summer, but it looks like the carowinds is going to make that trip a little better....

Carowinds does not open their coasters on memorial day like Six Flags.

What I don't get is why enthusiast think the whole industry revolves around them. Again we are a small community compared to the GP. So what if we dig, take pictures and come up with information? It means nothing to the park's bottom line and to the GP's enthusiasm. CNN is not going to take what we know and do a breaking story. Why, because it not that news worthy, at least not until the official announcement. Some are here crying and pointing fingers like we are the sun and everything revolves around us. Sorry to be the reality check, but it does not. The GP is not digging for that information and reading every blog and web site out there. Do you think the park really cares what we know, likely not? It's not affecting their revenue, and the media is still coming out on Thursday. They only need enthusiast there to fill up the room, provide the background noise, and say great things about the park when a camera is stuck in your face. Come on folk, it's not that serious.

Let me put this discussion to rest and we can move on with getting excited about the new ride.

1) Yes, the park cares.
2) Yes, the media is aware of this site. I was recently contacted by a local reporter trying to dig up information on the new ride and wondering how we knew what we knew on here. It's not as big of a deal in Charlotte as it is somewhere like Sandusky (where Cedar Point is the biggest source of news in town), but any half decent reporter researching for a story on the park is going to end up on this site at some point.
