General Carowinds discussion

I believe that every year the park should benefit one side of the amusement park groups, which includes Family (Water Rides Included), Children, and Thrills. In 2002, Carowinds brought us Ricochet, a family ride, in 2003 Carowinds gave us Nick Central w/ Runaway Reptar, children's area, and coming in the upcoming 2004 season Carowinds will give us Borg Assimilator, a thrill ride. If the park can stick with a trend of benefiting a different group of the park then things should be fine.

Well, now that a bunch of the mgmt team from PKI is here, I don't think we'll be worrying about them neglecting us anymore. lol

Plus, now that they've made an awesome section for the kiddies, I don't see them adding any more family coasters for a while (I hope).lol

So then the info about PKI management is true huh. What makes these guys more special than the previous PC management?

There is nothing *that* special about the PKI guys like people have been making it out to be. Its not like we got their GM or Jeff Siebert. (We've got a really great PR guy at the park. Send me lunch, Anderson.)

David Mandt is a marketing wiz for Paramount and he use to be at Carowinds many moons ago. This is like a homecoming for him. He's doing work for Carowinds and Paramount Parks all at the same time. I know he's very ACE friendly. Mandt and Anderson are doing some awesome things at the park. I can tell you that.

I'm not that familar with Mr. Kaetzel. He's now the Asst GM of Carowinds and involved as as marketing VP at the park. He was in marketing at PKI and PKD.

The one we should be watching is Tim Fisher, the new GM of Carowinds. He came over to the park from PGA, where we got Stealth from. (He should have brought our swings back too.)

You must really know what's going on; that's pretty interesting. Maybe this group will help take-on revamping some of the theme-less sections of the park. We have to be getting a flat though, I don't see any other way about it.

^Amen to the swings. That spot has sat empty now for two or three seasons after the failed attempt at "Flight School". I thought it was a bad move, but then again I am in no place to make decisions for the park. They did it for whatever reason, I just have yet to figure out what that reason is.

Someone made a comment "the gp has wanted more rides just like that, and since then been teased with jr coasters". I have to say this isn't so true. I think if there was an outcry from the general public to build thrilling rides, the park would have built them. The market around Charlotte is families. So, it's no big surprise that they built family rides.

My grandmother called in the middle of me writing all of this, and now, 35 min. later, I really have no clue where I was going with all of this. Oh well, go panthers.

Anybody that is friendly with the GP (and patient, as well) is always welcome in with me. Carowinds finally getting more involved with ACE is one of the perks of having a good PR system.

Did the old GM (Watt Burris was his name, right?) get moved to another park?

I have my own impressions of the new GM and how PGA has developed last few seasons, but that is for another thread. :)

Mr. Mandt is very ACE/coaster enthusiast friendly. If any of you remember when the British coaster group came for a tour, he treated them really nicely. Mr. SwampFox43 can tell you more about that day.

Mr. Burris, if I remember correctly, had some health problems and I think retired or took a reduced role at the park. But, I'm placing my money on retired.

I didn't mean that each group should be benefited with a new coaster every year. I meant that every group should be benefited with a new ride.

I second that vote :)
