General Carowinds discussion

^^ I remember people who went to Coasting For Kids saying that they got a piece of Thunder Road as a gift. If they are going to remove a piece of Thunder Road, they'd still have to replace it, right? Maybe (??) they just removed some pieces to give people as souvenirs and then they replaced them with new pieces, even if just for a month. (I'd imagine a little bit of wood is a pretty tiny cost to a theme park, or maybe they even had some left over from the old renovation of TR?) I don't have a clue how much time/effort/money it would take to remove and replace those pieces, so it might not even be a reasonable idea. But that was my first thought.

^ that sounds dangerous since the ride is still operating, had they done that in the offseason, sure and then got a full inspection and test with the new materials. but just ripping off a plank of wood and nailing a new one up just to give out samples, sounds a bit extreme

I vote CP's Blue Streak should come down too!

By the way, Thunder Road's sign has fresh blue paint that was done with in the last few days. With six left to go, why paint it now?
^Josh, you are correct that is new wood but it is also appears to be too small of a board to be used on a wooden coaster.

CarowindsCentral wrote:#SaveThunderRoad is getting on my nerves. People act like the higher-ups at Cedar Fair run the parks social media. The GP get on my nerves already but #STR made it worse.

I understand wanting to save the ride but spamming every park post about how the park "hates their customers" and "will go broke in a few years because of this decision" was annoying after seeing it thirty times.

#TorchThunderRoad!

I rarely comment on here but enjoy coming here to hear discussions about coasters and Carowinds from others and learning things I didn't know. I have learned a lot. But I have to chime in on this comment and I suppose the next comment after it that suggest those of us who dare hashtag Save Thunder Road "move on". I am one of those that has been doing it since the announcement was made and I found out thru this forum of the website "Save Thunder Road". I have no issues with anyone who respectfully thinks it is time for it to go. We are all entitled to our opinions and I am excited about what is to come next season! And I am sure over time I will "move on" past it and enjoy whatever they add to the water park and the park in general. But I have never nor has anyone I seen suggested that Carowinds nor Cedar Fair "hates their customers" and "will go broke in a few years because of this decision"! Not sure where you got that from. I have "liked" the posts from Carowinds and on occasion commented about the post's actual topic and added #SaveThunderRoad . Oops I did it again. *smh* Just a warning to those aggravated by those of us doing this I will continue to do so until Thunder Road is reduced to kindling and toothpicks! Am I under a delusion that The Powers That Be at Cedar Fair will take notice and change their minds? Ofcourse Not! But I suppose speaking for myself I am doing it because when Thunder Road is nothing but a memory I will know I spoke out against its' demise and tried. BTW ... I am sure you have noticed that this forum's header has a countdown and that same hashtag you find "annoying" so it seems I am not alone in that sentiment! Lastly your hashtag about "Torching Thunder Road" How very witty indeed but you might want to watch where you say it! There maybe others may not find it witty but inflammatory! *pun intended* Peace Folks!

So after examining the land between the parking lot and the blvd next to thunder road, I think a nice GCI woody with only removing trees for track space, kinda like boulder dash. Of course maybe it would need to start out in the open but at some point dash into the somewhat terrain wooded portion and back. No??
