Hopefully Rebel Yell and Racer stay for years to come. IMO the loss of racing/dueling coasters lately has been the saddest trend in the industry.

Having said that I actually do like the new vision for the water park (even though I'm more of a dry park person myself). I'm sure that it will look great and be more convenient than ever before.

Do you have any idea how selfish that sounds? The park needs to cater only to you? And you think if they try to cater to the other 2 million+ people that attend the park, they deserve to not reach their attendance goal? And I thought Rollerbee was bad....

And as you should. People on here seem to see themselves as business consultants to the park rather than customers, which is really what we all are. If you want more thrill rides or you'd prefer Thunder Road to a waterpark expansion then as a customer by all means you should voice that opinion. If people don't voice their opinion because they feel they are in the minority then it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. I think in this case the waterpark wins out in the end because that truly does seem to be the popular consensus, but that doesn't mean you have to change your opinion.

I'd say 2015 was primarily thrill focused considering we got the worlds tallest and fastest giga.

I meant that for me personally its not worth it. And you make a point because to me barely anything would be worth it. A RMC comes to mind though... haha

But since there's nothing I can do about it I'll just enjoy whatever comes our way.

The thing I don't think some people are getting is that, one way or another, Thunder Road would have to go. Let's say hypothetically they did just build on the other side. Even over there is landlocked, just like the existing part of the water park. In a few years if/when they decide to further expand the water park they'd have to rip it out then instead.

Sure we can throw around all kinds of scenarios where it could have stayed, but 99% of those are unfeasible, especially if you take into account the placement of potential future attractions in the water park. Not that I don't/didn't love Thunder Road, but lets be real here.

I like the new kids stuff. It means the kids can go to the waterpark and be more enjoyed while I ride The Fury all by myself. Hopefully more will come. A bit underwhelming so far but honestly Thunder Road was a ghost town so I get why they said na no on keeping it.

Thunder Roas was (wow, it feels weird saying "was") an aging woodie in a far corner of the park that hasn't seen a major attraction in a while. Take into account the fact that it was also a dueling coaster, essentially splitting the ridership among two attached coasters, and I think that properly explains the "lack" of riders.

It was a complete walk on for the past 5 years I've been coming back to the park. Anyone who says differently obviously hasnt been to the park in the past 5 years. Even only running one side its a walk on. I get nostalgia but keep common sense when you talk. A thank you.

^^Admittedly I have not. I missed the opening of Twisted Colossus by just a couple weeks. Seeing the completed track in person though was a sight.

Apparently your idea of a walk-on is in need of calibration. The line was down the ramp a good portion of the last day, for example.

so the the treasure chest stuff and some of the marketing so far, I dont really see it in the blue prints. Unless they're just pointing out what it could be themed too, their teasers don't make a whole lot of sense after seeing the blue prints.

also all the trees beside the parking lot by thunder road, are history. was hoping they would make better use of them. coasterbrah wants a tranquil water park, but the new wave pool will be butt up right against carowinds blvd, nothing says tranquil like honking horns.

I think you are exactly right, the treasure chest teaser is probably all about theme-ing that new stuff (and maybe re-themeing some old stuff). So, there's going to be a new wave pool. I guess there's going to be sand at this one (as hinted around the box). There's going to be a new play structure, I expect a kind of pirate ship theme to it (as hinted by the treasure chest). There's probably something that hints of the name of the new slide complex too.

I wouldn't have expected a rough scaled overview to really do anything except show the locations of new or modified structures for the purpose of obtaining government building permits. The themeing is irrelevant to government permit process. We probably won't see the themeing/naming of that stuff, until the public event (unless a leak springs).

I think it'd be cool if the new wave pool had sand. But only if it was some type of sand that didn't stick to wet skin... haha does that exist?

Is there any actual lead as to if the pool will have concrete or sand?
