General Carowinds discussion

I'll be there tomorrow at 930am. I'm going alone so I'm just going to get a Fast Pass and ride constantly all day then leave at about 5ish. If I were going with someone Id probably not get one since it's a Sunday but I don't like standing in line alone. I'll be the chick constantly riding Fury back to back to back to back to back....My Mother's Day gift to myself lol

I went to Carowinds yesterday evening, and it was really nice. It wasn't too crowded, and there was only about a 10-20 minute wait for Fury. I got my first night rides, and they were super fun. My only complaint is that we couldn't get front row.
I also noticed that most of the workers were a lot more friendly. From people giving high fives to the lady telling people to say "Bye Felicia" as we left the station on Goldrusher, they were very fun. I hope that the park continues to have that charm. :)

Today i rode in the back row on fury 325 .My lap harness clicked up one going up the lift hill. My mom was freaking out almost crying. It was my moms first time on fury..I had to hold on for my life with my legs crossed, holding my moms arms and my seat tight and just hope i will stay safe. We tried screaming to stop the ride but nobody listened..But ended up alright and rode 2 more times after that..I wouldn't have been scared if something similar didn't happened to a lady on Texas giant but she fell out..STORY OF MY LIFE...

Well Cody, your story sounds horrifying! (I've always wondered if anyone would hear you and stop the ride if you had a problem halfway up, and how is it even possible that it clicked UP? :?) But I must say you make it a bit funny. You went two more times after that? XD I doubt I'd do the same on the very day I had such a scare. I read your post and to me it's like, "Oh I was playing Russian roulette and it was my turn and I knew the bullet was in my chamber and I was crapping myself knowing I was about to die, but when I pulled the trigger it didn't go off because the bullet was defective. It ended up alright and we got fresh bullets so I took two more turns after that."

You're brave or crazy, my friend. Or probably a bit of both. ;)

Also good thing you DIDN'T die. That'd be inconsiderate of you to your mom, dying on Mother's Day. Shaaaaame.

Was anyone at the park when someone fell at the top of the stairs in the regular line? They called an EMT over and moved everyone over into the fast lane line for a while. I didn't stick around long enough to ask what happened.

With much respect you don't know what had happened. I know what happened and i wouldn't make up a terrifying story about that and i know what happened on Texas giant...A lady got on the ride with her son and she didn't hear as many clicks in her restraint as everyone else and the ride employees told her that there was no sign of any problem so she fell out during the ride and died..Why would i make something up that is life risking? Its not like i'm trying to say fury 325 is a bad roller coaster..You don't have to call me a lier

If what you are saying is true (that the restraints clicked UP while the train was in motion), then something is SERIOUSLY wrong with the ride and they need to close it immediately until they figured it out. I think that you think it clicked up. I don't actually think it clicked up.

Chris, they can click DOWN though, can't they? I've had that happen to me several times going up on the... whichone... the Carolina Cyclone I think?

Yes, they can click down.

As for that Texas Giant animation, that could not be more inaccurate. Didn't the train return with her bar still locked? I think (and I mean no disrespect when I say this) that the lap bar was '1 clicked' onto her stomach fat. When she started going over airtime hills, inertia caused her fat to 'float' temporarily unsecuring her to her seat.

I hope this makes sense.

And I very well could be wrong. I have been wrong before.

Um, New Texas Giant has hydronic lap bars so they don't click at all. And with the clicking, I've heard of that happening on a B&M before. There is a rachet that keeps the lap bar closed and sometimes a person that is just the right size, will get the lap at down to where it clicks for the last time, but it is right on the edge of the rachet. Henceforth, the reason for the lap bar going up one click. It was at the end of the rachet and did not fully click down. This is why carowinds requires two clicks for the train to be dispatched so just in case the click is at the top of the rachet, the lap bar does not fly open if it slips, it still has another rachet. So in other words, there is a super extremely minute chance the lap bar will ever open up, or maybe even a 0% chance. I hope that made sense.
