General Carowinds discussion

Regarding the roller coaster museum, they do have enough inventory to start a museum, I think it's just the startup costs that have been preventing it from becoming a reality. While a permanent location would be great, it would also be great to see a portable display that goes around the country to various parks for a short periods of time. Once again that would cost money.

excerpt...

Were you saddened to hear the news that Carowinds management would be shutting you down?

Thunder Road: Not even close. Every day I wake up to 539,000 feet of wood creaking and cracking and it hurts. Coasters need highs and lows and I've been going downhill for far too long. First, a group of guys — probably Communists — came and stripped my original red, white and blue paint off me. In the '90s, they started removing memorabilia. The P.C. police took away the two moonshine stills that once stood at my entrance, so a man can't even have a drink after a long day of jerking people around...

,,, I still have a couple days left of action and I may just go out like ol' Luke. You ever seen the movie, Thunder Road?

Robert Mitchum's character Luke dies in a fiery wreck at the end. Are you threatening to do the same?

I'll see you in hell.

This is in fact the Thunder Road coasterdynamix nano coaster model. The price of these on coasterdynamix.com were $19.95 but they are now sold out.

I went to the water park for the first time in a few years yesterday and I got caught in the storm for the new water slide. (I do not remember the name, the one that looks like a toilet bowl). During the wait, something was bugging me. Some of the slides are really close to thunder road. Especially the toilet bowl that is almost directly under her lift hill. Would The park have to close these slides during demolition? Another thing that was bugging me was the new path that stops at the tunnel under thunder road. The path was constructed with the new slides, so I am assuming that 2016 was planned during the beginning of the "3 year expansion." Is it still possible we will be suprised with a RMC conversion and expansion to the other side? Or did they stop the path at the tunnel because the planners were uncertain of keeping the coaster?

It's impossible that an rmc conversion is coming. Although I have a feeling that maybe Gravity group could come in and sort of 'Update' the ride. Correct me if im wrong, but Thunder Road is closing quite early. Based on RT's demolition, It only takes about a month to destroy a beloved wooden coaster. Imo, it depends on what we get. If it's just a few slides, then why are they closing it this early in the season? Just doesn't make sense to me.
