General Carowinds discussion

I'm not worried. It might be a rocky opening weekend due to operator training and inefficiency, but I expect all to be open Friday night. I expect further "finishing touches" to appear in the area by the time regular weekday operation begins.

But if any of these new flats aren't running Friday night it won't bother me too bad because I'm still more interested in some day and night rides on Fury 325. :)

It looks like the pavers might not be done and they are roping off the unfinished areas. I wondering how a carnival can throw up those rides in a couple of days, while this process seems to be going so slow. I mean the Fury crew had to deal with snow/rain and they never pulled a late night. This winter has been almost perfect for outside work. Not complaining, just wondering.

i hope you're right but today it does not look like they are going into new areas but are finishing what has already been done.

You would think those rides would be running continuously by now to train workers. Running the ride is no problem, that is only a matter of clearing the platform and pressing a button. It's about getting people on and off. A TopScan is particularly finicky. If you have a big belly, it will take some effort by a strong worker to lock the harness in place. At the fair that held up the ride a lot.

Any word on a test seat?

Its been fun watching County Fair come alive over the winter! Cant wait to see what it looks like and what else is new. I took many screenshots of the construction over the winter from the webcam, may post it eventually on here.

It's midnight and the workers are gone but they have left the top scan in a very funky resting position. I wonder if it is stuck because it seems it would be very hard on the equipment to leave it suspended like that over night. Yeah, yeah, I know I have no life, but i like looking at park rides in every state of being. I like to see ride drawing, being constructed, and in operation. Hell, I even like seeing abandoned rides sitting in the middle of a field rusting.

I saw the rides testing earlier and I'm a bit disappointed there are not more lights on them. The wave swinger has plenty, but the others are sorely lacking. I mean, if you are going to call yourself a county fair, there should be a light bulb attached to every thing. Fairs are gaudy as heck, but that is what makes them so special. Perhaps they will add lights later.
