I still want to know what idiotoic group of government officials approved this stupid move, building a wave pool in the middle of an area that is in extreme drought levels. It must have been approved by the Sandusky Town Council.

Trying to be nice to the new folks and refrain from saying anything.

Probably the same idiotic group who said it was ok for companies to water their grass at the same time they said residential homeowners couldn't. If you want to cut water consumption, do it across the board. Of course, the water ride they had on Johnson Rd near I485 didn't help either! ;)

If they get it built by early March, they would have a good month and a half to let the rains fill it mostly. Then just add the chemicals and get everything balanced. What's the issue??

Just playing devils advocate, but once the pool is full don't they just recycle the water?

I know that some of it will evaporate, but for the most part doesn't the water basically just get filtered and reused?

Correct, all water based attractions at Carowinds reuse most of the same water all season. Once the ponds are full, very little water is added. (Of course, this may depend on what you call very little. Keep in mind Carowinds uses over 1 million gallons to fill all attractions. I want to see this well that Carowinds uses for Log Flume, WWF, and Rapids. Can someone show me one day?

If we are still in a drought come opening time for Carowinds the pool will not be filled/open. A Park official told me that. They will just use the old pool until they fill it in at the end of the 2008 season.

Not to start the rumor mill churning up in February or anything, but if they tear out the old pool and move the Super Saturator to another area or remove it... That's a pretty huge piece of empty space...

Of course when they remove the old pool i would rather see a few new slides go in that area and move sati inside as well somewhere like beside or behind the new pool and use the old sati spot for a flat. 2009 could be the year they remodel RFD.

If we get a nice flat ride and 2 new slides and keep sati i would be more than happy and wait till 2010 for that coaster.

I doubt Satie would be moved, however the old wavepool I can believe. If it comes out of CoasterChris's mouth I will believe it when I see it. Here is a point, KD got a new wavepool, but the old one is still standing....

Yeah, same with Holiday World. I kind of think part of the motivation for building the new pool is to increase capacity. Tearing out the old one would negate that.

Anyone see the story about the busted water main near S Tryon and Carowinds Blvd? LOTS of water shooting up 40ft high for 8 hours cause they couldn't find where it hooked into the system at and didn't know where the cut off was.

All that water could have filled the new wave pool! ;)
