General Carowinds discussion

Today, the amazing race seemed to be bunch of mad dashes across the park, indangering the saftey of the game's participants and innocent members of the general public. The questions were were too easy, and just made the game more physical than mental. Harder questions would make people move more slowly as everyone might be heading off in different directions, lessening the need to run *walk...cough, cough. ;) *

A question for top gun should have read just 'meet near the shark (shark train)' instead of 'meet near the B&M invert that goes 62 mph and does 6 inversions as you fly in your F-14.' :P

The game was awesome, but it sometimes became a saftey hazard to everyone.

BTW...some winning teams just might have cheated...

On a side note I think you are too young or I'd offer you some cheese to go along with your whine!

Geesh, this is the 1st year for this and I think it was great. Yea, it had snags but those can be ironed out.

You say it was awesome but do nothing to back that up. You only say the negative stuff. Could it be you are jealous because you did not win?

Please give people a break ok!!

Yeah dude I think your mad because you didnt win! I thought it was perfect and for you saying its not challanging but if you had to make it to the last couple legs then you would have realized that it wasnt a "day in the park". They had to answer questions and if they got it wrong they were penalized for 5 minutes. And the questions they had to answer, well lets just say I would still be in the park! Then after that they had to play one of two gales (the peach basket toss or the throw the baseball in the white jug.

But how was it "indangering" the GP when you were **suppose** to walk in the first place. DO you say the same thing about the GP that runs in the park...

I thought it was a fun event and cant wait to to it again next year!

I did certainly enjoy the rACE and will do it next year if offered.....

I thought there were some bugs in the race, but some of them got fixed right after the first leg... the 'supposed' cheating by some members got stopped when they no longer allowed us to pass people in line, which HELPED! The water at the pitstops helped too...

I enjoyed it greatly.. of course there could be improvements, and those would be apprecitaed... but overall, i had a ton of fun in the rACE

pete [cephas] and i were fifth in the second to last leg [4 made it into last leg].. which was disappointing, but it was a GREAT way to spend the hottest and fullest part of day....

Just a few comments here...

Just remember this is the first time we have attempted this at any event. So, if we do it again, we'll work on getting the bugs/problems worked out of it for next year. Several people who were a fan of the show told me that they were impressed with it and really enjoyed it. I did have an enlightening conversation on the way out with some participants that had some very valid points that will be addressed if we do it again next year.

As far as the questions, you don't want really hard questions because you don't want to spend all day trying to figure out the answers. You have to move the game along!

I'd like to know what you felt were the circumstances that were "indangering the saftey of the game's participants and innocent members of the general public." Please email me or PM me. Frankly, I feel if you make a comment like that, you need to back it up with examples. If I don't hear from ya...then well...

The one issue with the "agressive"walking was addressed and I even tagged along to keep an eye on things during that one leg. As CoasterBruh said and I agree with, I saw the general public doing a lot more dangerous stuff by running around and doing horseplay than some of the behaviour that exhibitied during the game. While I was waiting for the players coming out of the Spongebob movie, I couldn't believe how some of these kids were acting in the arcade. They were chasing each other around and running in and out. One guy about knocked over a man walking in there. I swear that people lose all their common sense when they go out in public sometimes.

Any more comments or concerns? Post here or email me.

One thing i heard that interested me that may be a possibility for the afternoon event in a few years (after Amazing Race has been done several times) was the Midway Olympics that were done at the coaster con at PKD i think 2 yrs ago. That sounded like it would have been a lot of fun to do, and then everyone can play the games they want without having to pay (the overall winners recieving a prize or medals, and everyone else just getting to have fun participating in the games). Something like that might be something to consider in a few years. As for Amazing Race, I hope to be able to try it next year if i am able to go next year.

Harder Questions. Fewer Rounds. More teams eliminated per round.

-Peter's suggestions for the Amazing rACE '06!

They had to answer questions and if they got it wrong they were penalized for 5 minutes. And the questions they had to answer, well lets just say I would still be in the park! Then after that they had to play one of two gales (the peach basket toss or the throw the baseball in the white jug.

I didn't know of any of that. I shouldn't have been the tough critic I was.

And what could this thread be without a big thanks to max and all the other volunteers. Thanks to all participants for being good competition! :P
