Paramount’s Carowinds to Debut New Hanna-Barbera Attraction
Theme park adventure rockets guests through The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera.

Charlotte, N.C.  (March 17, 2006) – Classic animated characters from cartoons such as The Flintstones, The Jetsons and Scooby-Doo take a starring role in The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera, the new Hollywood attraction at Paramount’s Carowinds that takes guests on an unforgettably fun family adventure in the Paramount Action F/X Theatre.

When villainous Dick Dastardly and his sidekick dog Muttley kidnap Elroy Jetson, park guests are in for a wild ride. Attraction-goers help Yogi Bear rescue Elroy as he dashes through Bedrock, Jetson City and Scooby-Doo’s Haunted Mansion. Guests fly, drive, and dive with Yogi Bear while sitting in seats that are synchronized to move with the action on the screen.

The adventure takes place in Paramount’s Carowinds Action F/X Theatre. The Action F/X Theatre is a 13,000 square-foot building holding two, four level terrace theatres. The unique two-person seats are set on motion bases that allow for a wide range of movement that is fully in sync with the action coming from the 26 feet by 59 feet screen. In addition, the theatre’s digital-based six channel audio system provides high quality surround sound to fully immerse guests in the story.

The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera will debut at all five Paramount theme parks this summer. For fans that prefer to watch the show without the motion, stationary seats are available in the theatre. Guests must be 44 inches tall to experience the motion seats. There is no minimum height requirement for the stationary seats. Locally, The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera will be ready to entertain guests when Paramount's Carowinds opens for the season on Saturday, March 25.

Paramount’s Carowinds opens on weekends only beginning March 25. The park is open for daily operation June 2 through Aug. 23, and weekend-only operation resumes Aug. 26 – Oct. 29. The park also is open March 31; April 14, 17 & 28; May 5, 12, 19, 26 & 29; and Sept. 4. The park is closed to the public on Sept. 23, 24 & 30 and Oct. 1.

Isn't this the same show they had down at Universal Studios? If so, it was pretty good 3D cartoon animation.

It's a great 3D effect for a 2D movie. I think that is what the post meant and if so I agree. It is pretty neat.

ah ha so that thing i saw with the antennas was marvin the martion or that green guy from the flinstones.... this should be an interesting attraction.

On another note what are they going to do with that area where the swings were? I know thye had some weird thing there for a while that was never opened and then last year they just kept the scarowinds maze setup but what are they gonna do with it now. I am assuming its just gonna be that maze....they should make it into a mirror maze for regular days and then at halloween at the scary theming. Not that that would be a fun attraction but it would be better than nothing.... ;)

I don't see them doing anything with the area until they re-theme that area which could be a while so for now the maze will just sit there over the summer getting destroyed.

I few times durring the summer i'll catch people going in so i have to go after them.
