Anyone familiar with Great Wolf Resorts & their indoor waterparks know how cool these places are. The one I saw in Wisconsin Dells blew me away with it's indoor Master Blaster. According to the news article, the company is reviewing sites near Concord and Fort Mill. My guess would be that they are looking at the tourist hotspots, ie: Concord Mills, Lowe's Speedway, & Carowinds. I'd like to see it near Carowinds personally but my thinking is that they will be building it closer to NC's #1 toursist attraction, Concord Mills.

This is great news. I've never stayed at a Great Wolf Lodge, but from what I've seen on the net they look pretty impressive. I'm surprised that the company chose Charlotte though....seems like a tourism oriented area would have been a more likely choice for this type of thing.

A few years back I recall that Gaylord Entertainment/Opryland wanted to build one of their mega-hotels and convention centers near Charlotte (on the site of Heritage USA) but their plans never got off the ground.

Probably wont be spending the night at this place. Knowing that one night is like 300.00 compared to my mortage which is like 60.00 dollars more for a month and a hour or so down the road. Would like to check out the water park though. Im sure it will have a water coaster, a probowl, and a tornado AND with the weather here we just may see an outside section of the waterpark!

I think it said though that only hotel guests can go to the water park. :(

I too was surprised Charlotte was getting it, but Charlotte is one of the fastest growing cities in the US.
