General Carowinds discussion

I was reading an interesting thread on CoasterForce.com entitled "which B&M invert is the worst?"

Most of the inverts mentioned/compared were Raptor, Alpengeist, Talon, Great Bear, DD's, Nemesis, Montu and TopGun PGA. Hardly a mention of TopGun/PC.

This lead me to believe that PGA's version may be better known world wide. I know it's much older than our version, but from what I read it doesn't compare to PC's TopGun. What do you think?

By the way I would have to say it would be hard to label any B&M invert as bad.

All I can say is out of the 3 that I have been on our Top Gun beats them hands down.
Those 3 being.... Raptor, Montu, and of course Our Top Gun
Reasons you ask? Raptor...Good when it came out but after the drop a bit too much lull inbetween elements.
Montu...Definantly a bigger brother of ours but I don't care for mid course brakes that slow you down every single time you ride it.
Our Top Gun....Non stop thrills from lift to brake. Plus ours is awesomely smooth

I think people know TG at PGA better than TG at PC because when TG at PGA opened up, the technology was new so the press gave it more attention.

I think that one of the main reasons that PGA's Top Gun is more known than ours is that it recieved huge amounts of publicity when it opened. I believe it was the first invert on the west coast. Then of course, it was featured in all the early 90s roller coaster videos (America's Greatest Roller Coaster Thrills 3D, so on...)

I beg to differ. I think PC's version is better and obviously newer, but PGA's version gets more attention. Just watch the coaster shows on TV or read the forums on various coaster sites.

I think one of the reasons to PGA's being better known is because it's in California. When they film coaster shows it's much more accesible than PC's is.
