Another pretty big change is the new Nickelodean Central section of the park. This was added in 2003 and was expanded in 2005. This is a connection of what you knew as Animation Station and the Country Crossroads Section of the Park.
So:
-What was 'Powder Keg Flume' in 2000 is now Wild Thornberry's River Adveuntre
-What was 'Gauntlet' in 2000 is now Rocket Power Air Time
-Also, A New Vekoma Jr. SLC called 'Rugrats Runaway Reptar' has been added, I wouldn't suggest riding it if you dislike headaches
-What was Scooby Doo is now Fairly Odd Coaster
and so on and so forth. Basically, it's all but 1 of the same rides, just to different themes, it's a nice section of the park, very nicely themed and enjoyable.
You're going to notice the Main Street shopping area has been scaled down by Paramount in 2001. A whole section of shops was stripped out and a small broadway-esque stage was added (Cedar Fair dosen't even use it, so it's basically useless)
As Well as that, Frenzoid, the swinging boat, has been moved to right next to Afterburn (Top Gun) and is called Southern Star. In the 8 years you've been gone, the swing ride by Afterburn has been removed, and put back in as Yo-Yo, new for 2008.
Carowinds is no longer a 'theme park' about the Carolinas, more so an 'Amusement park' which is easy to notice. It's very scenic as it was in 2000, lots of flowers and waterfalls, it's a fun place, but its VERY VERY different than in 2000. Hell, it's changed a lot in the past year, think about EIGHT!
PS: YES! Thunder Road will be closed, and Hurler has been retracked. It's still a rough ride, but it's definately rideable, so give it a try, I LOVE IT! ha.
