Any word on a solid opening date for at least one side if not both?

Nothing official from Carowinds but word on the board is that Thunder Road is due to open late this month.

I believe they are waiting until the weekend--at least Friday the 4th. There is a lot of stuff that still needs to be done to make it perfect for opening.

Thunder Road will open Memorial Day Weekend with the water park and Super Saturator.

Correction to my previous post: TR will open mid-June.

I went on July 4th (primarily for Boomerang Bay), and it was indeed open. Both sides were open, although the left side broke down for a little bit around 2pm.

fine, I guess if I have to I will...

It has definitely improved from my experiences on both sides yesterday. It is still slightly rough on the wheel seats, but it isnt terribly rough. However, the non-wheel seats are much smoother IMO. The only real problem with the silver side is a little bit of a strange noise during the turn around at the far end. There isnt anything wrong, it just sounds strange. Like metal rubbing on wood ironically enough. The blue side does not make this strange sound, and IMO is the better ride this year. It is just slightly smoother. The crew this year also tries to race the trains whenever possible, the only time they dont race is if one side has problems with a seatbelt, or if they have to unlock one of the restraints. Overall, im glad that they did this rehab, and I'm glad to have Troad back.
