Having worked with Donnie Sipes (Family Kingdom GM) in bringing coaster events to the park over past years, I had the pleasure of meeting Neil Ammons, the park owner, in early 2000. One of the nicest persons I have ever met, I was saddened to hear of his death on Sept 24 at age 63. What this means for the future of Family Kingdom, I wouldn't venture a guess other than to say it will probably not hinder the future of the park, at least I hope not. Donnie once told me that Neil had been offered more than one buy out deal over the years and refused them all, believing a seaside amusement park was an integral part of the "beach experience". And he was proud to offer that experience.
