General Carowinds discussion

Just noticed the 2010 park calendar is live.

Random observations:

They're open until 8pm on opening day.
The park is open every day from April 2nd until April 11th, which I'd guess is spring break for CMS. Have they been open that entire week before?
They're open every Friday from April 2nd up to when daily operation starts after Memorial Day.
They start 10pm closings on Saturdays on May 1st, seems earlier than usual.
Fridays go to 10pm closings from July 2nd until August 6th.
Boomerang Bay is on it's usual Memorial weekend to Labor-day schedule.
Daily operation ends on Aug 22nd.
Scarowinds starts on September 17th, and runs for 7 weeks this year, with a few 1 AM Saturdays. Halloween week they're running from Thursday through Sunday (Halloween).
Halloween is also the last day of regular park operation.

It certainly seems like they've added some extra days in there. Combine that with Intimidator and hopefully some improvement in the economy and they might really break some attendance records this year.

As long as I can remember, it's opened Memorial Day weekend, and closed on Labor Day. I'd assume this is mostly for staffing reasons, as it's certainly warm enough in these parts well before and after that timeframe to have the waterpark open on most days.

Some 9pm closings instead of 8pm closings would have been great in June,July ,and some of August.
But at least they have those 10pm closings on all Saturday's starting in May thru August, and 10pm closings on Fri and Sat in July.
(I'm just thinking about riding coasters after dark..LOL!)

I wish we had 10pm closings on all Friday nights in the summer. Actually, I don't understand why EVERY night from late June through mid August can't be a 10pm close, like MOST of the sister parks. Bottom line, though, I'm glad for what extensions in the schedule have been made, especially the week of Spring Break in early April, just like SFOG has for years. I just think the park will maintain higher attendance throughout the season, regardless of the economy, just because of Intimidator. Even a modest park attendee is going to want to experience it...

Sorry J, I didn't see this topic when I glanced thru. I wouldn't have posted the other thread. But anywho, glad to see some changes to the park's hours this year.
Hey Ken, I noticed the 9am openings on Fridays from mid April thru May. I'm sure this is part of their Education Days, but they haven't opened that early in previous years I don't think. Not sure how crowded it gets for those days, but could be a good time to get out and get some rides in early in the day. Hmm, possible some half day's of work coming.
