I'm not sure that the actual link to the photo works so for those interested in seeing an aerial photo of the property that Carowinds is on from 1968, '65 or '60, go to:

type in "carowinds" under address, "charlotte" and "NC" in the appropriate areas.
Here's a hint to make things interesting. Under the "overlays" button, click on "all roads" and it will overlay the new roads onto the old photo before those roads were built. It's really interesting. I believe I see the old McClellan house that was left on the Carowinds property when it opened, back by the Shortline RR. You can move the photo around with the mouse (click and drag).
And for those history or defunct coaster buffs like me, you might even find that holy grail. I did! A twisty Fred Church coaster in Waukesha Beach, WI. I now know the layout!!
