From Screamscape:

(9/17/10) I’ve got a public confirmation about one of the issues that has caused the temporary shutdown of the Hollywood Rockit. A technical service alert from Maurer Sohne was released this month that reports that the ‘coupling bar’ between the cars on all of the X-Car / Sky-Loop train systems are “not fatigue endurable”. In other words, they are showing signs of stress that could lead to a possible failure.
As such, Maruer will be redesigning the parts and offering up the fix in approximately 2-3 months. “Any operation of the Sky Loop or X-Car Coaster with tandem train must be immediately and strictly stopped until the examination has been evaluated!” So… the ride’s shut down for the short term at least because of this alone. “If you find any cracks (no matter what size or type) on the checked locations or any other irregularities, the system must be shut down immediately in order to prevent serious accidents prosing a danger to health and life of persons.”

Looks like this ride is continuing to be doomed. I still hadn't ridden it yet.

Its a fun coaster, nothing to write home about, but I don't get why this thing was so hard to get going. I understand that the current problem is affecting more than just this ride, but it isn't like Rockit is some revolutionary new coaster type. The only things that are 'new' are the moving walkways (which weren't working when I rode it). The ride was not worth the 2 hour wait I had.

HRRR was one of the more disappointing new rides I've ever ridden. Slow cycle times, rough ride (at least in my seat, I've heard it varies by seat), slow, boring, uninteresting layout, about 23023 MCBR. It was just not a good ride to me. And on top of that, I was stuck in the station for about 10 minutes after my ride with the lap bar cutting off the circulation to my legs and they had "no way" to get us out of the trains while we were still sitting in the station. Always thought that was a hazard waiting to happen if there was an emergency.

It is a amazing looking ride.
It is a very quiet coaster.
It is a rough coaster.
It is a headache giving coaster.
It is rougher than Thunder Road.
It is an over rated coaster.
It is not the coaster that Universal Studios needed.
