Hmmmm I like the paint job on that one. That is Patriot right? Has Carowinds said anything about a new paint job for Afterburn in this offseason?

It would look cool, but They should change the order of the colors, like red supports with blue track and white stripe.
I would rather have something along the lines of Talon's pain job just a lot darker with bright red rails maybe.

The park stated at CoasterStock that Afterburn is getting a new paint job that is slated to be like Patriot's this upcoming offseason. Subject to change of course.

I am glad they have at least planned on re-painting it. They need to do a color scheme that is unique.... the scheme of patriot is great but our coaster isnt a patriotic themed coaster, they need to do it the color of a fighter jet or something... I dont know... something different..

These responses have caught me by surprise. I think the original color scheme is perfect and fits the theme well.

^ I like the scheme as it is too, but something different would also be nice as well. They could go with the best of both worlds and make repaint all the supports a tad darker blue and paint the track a dark but shiny grey.

If only it was Thunder Road under consideration

I personally think the current colors are very fitting for it. Grey like most fighter jets, and blue ties in nice, I would say a fresh coat same colors would be just fine.

That would defeat the purpose, though. The flag is red and white striped, not blue and white striped.

Personally, I hope they repaint it the same colors when it's time comes. I don't care for Patriot's scheme. I think it works on Patriot because of the name and all, but otherwise, meh.

I'm 100% against changing the color scheme.

I've thought since the first time I saw Top Gun that it was a beautiful ride, and seeing other rides has only made me appreciate it that much more. The blue and silver is distinctive, classy, and combined with how the coaster flows in and around it's area it's one of the most visually appealing coasters anywhere.

The only negatives these days are the chipped / peeling spots, and the fact that much of the beauty of this ride is lost with the South gate being closed most of the time.

I'm no fan of the Patriot color scheme to begin with, but am really against it for Afterburn for another reason other than I think the current colors are perfect. There's already a big red coaster right there, plus Vortex painted exactly the same on one side of it. Do we really need another beemer with a largely red paint scheme on the other side of Intimidator?

It is just.paint, doesn't change the ride.

On another note. Did they say anything about fixing the F-14 model in front of the coaster? It has one of it's elevators missing (the metal slats that change the angle of the aircraft's flight)

Long Overdue. Giant Frisbee, repainting afterburn, all thats missing is to oust Spongebob from the Action Theater.

Well I do like the original scheme, but new would be fine as well. Maybe a metallic silver would look really good? Oh well, it will be fine no matter what it is.
