...trip report of the year. :D

I recently acquired a gold pass, so I thought I'd put it to good use this Friday. Carowinds gets a little crowded during spring break... I didn't think of that.
One of my shortest wait times was Hurler, which was maybe about a half hour at best. Unfortunately I was stuck in line with some kids who most certainly consumed entire cans of beans before they hopped in line. What an experience.

First ride was Intimidator. This year's crew is snappy as usual, even with two trains running, the line rarely ever stopped moving. The trims were hardly braking at all which made for a sweet ride.

The Vortex is looking good with a fresh new coat of red paint. I didn't go last year, but I think they repainted it over this last offseason? Also, all of the dippin-dots stands have been replaced. The one by Boo Blasters is now a potato chip kiosk. Brilliant.

Another change is this store, again probably was changed last year but it's new stuff for me. It looks cool, they sell fast passes in it.

Now onto Windseeker. The one thing I came to ride, but never made it on, primarily because the line started in Mongolia. I was able to get a few pictures of it though. I thought it would look weird with the skytower, because they're both relatively the same height. However it's a fantastic addition to the park, it looks great. It doesn't take away from the skytower at all. The music is also fantastic (from what I could hear on the ground). I can't wait to see it at night!

Another nice addition to the area are these shaded benches. Although it would nicer if they were shaded with green vines. :x

Top Gun is such an awesome roller coaster... and it will forever be Top Gun to me! Everything's great about this roller coaster, except for the last corkscrew. That thing kills.

Thunder Road was only running one side (SC), the line was backed up almost to the main pathway. That's the way it was for most coasters today, pretty insane.

One thing I didn't like this year that I think Carowinds maintenance crew should do next year: All of the concrete was filthy. Even the new concrete in the Intimidator line was covered in gum, dirt, and stuff. A simple hour or two with a pressure washer could really improve the situation! All in all this was a great appetizer for what I'm anticipating to be an awesome summer! I can't wait to go on a weekday later-on when there's barely any people in the park.
