Visiting the San Francisco area this summer. Is either park (Discovery Kingdom or Great America) worth a visit?

If so, which one would you pick if you could only visit one?

Thanks.

Well....really a couple things. I like thrill rides, clean parks, theming is nice.

Also, I'm traveling with my wife and three kids. Two eleven year olds and one five year old. So looking for the best value with the overall experience to please everyone.

If you have your kids and really like theming then I suggest maybe trying Gilroy Gardens. It is lacking on the Thrill Rides but it is one awesome park.

If you have to choose between Discovery Kingdom or Great America then Discovery Kingdome would be the choice. Yea Great America is getting that new woodie but well that is about all they have to be honest with you.

Also the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is also close by if you want to enjoy a seaside park with a unique collection of rides along with The Giant Dipper?

Thanks for the information. I did not think about Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and did not know about Gilroy Gardens.

Coasterdave, thanks for the advice on visiting the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. My family really enjoyed it and it was the perfect way to bring our vacation to a close.

The Big Dipper was nice and the collection of flats was really impressive. The only disappointment was that the newest coaster Under Toe had not opened yet. Visiting this park really made me miss the old Myrtle Beach Pavilion.

Thanks again!
