GCI has posted some photos to their Facebook page from Hurler (I can't access them from here so maybe someone else can post them). It appears that the entire first turn is being completely rebuilt from the ground up.

GCI says they have reshaped the turn to improve rider experience. Hmm, maybe I will renew Season pass.

It has already been completely taken down and partially rebuilt, so it's definitely happening.

They need to replace more sections of the ride than just the first term, though I completely understand why they chose to start there...

Good that GCI is re-tracking Hurler  Though I think the only thing that can save Hurler now is RMC Topper Track.

If I can looking at the last picture right, the conduit went to the camera and they have broadened the curve, easing the trains into it more.

Some more info straight from GCI, via Reddit.

The plan and profile are generally the same as what they were before, with some better shapes being used. The banking is now based on those shapes, so the train should behave better.
We actually used all of the same foundations, though our structure is anchored in slightly different locations than the original structure, due to the shape changes.

When Hurlers run good, they run really good. I hope they keep the trim off.

Hopefully I'll get to ride Thunder Run after it's rehab this year too.

Any news on if KD's Hurler is getting any love?

In my opinion, they should do some work on the trains. I rode it once last year and I swear one of the wheels were locked/stuck. It made this horrible screeching noise (like the one you hear in any movie that has train moving at rapid speed that needs to stop just before falling off a cliff or hitting a person, another train ect...) and it barley made it over a few hills (a lot slower than normal). When we pulled back into the station there was this odd smell kinda like a burning rubber smell. Anyone have an answer to what might have been up? That was the only time that has happend to me.

I believe they had already started some form of rehab in prior years as far as retracking the first hill after the first turn and also some structural repairs and bracings. I agree the WHOLE coaster needs to be rehab like Thunder Road.

Was it early in the season, midseason or late season? Was it super cold, normal or super hot?
Which hill did it barely make it over? Hurler is most prone to valley on turn 2 prior to the first drop.
In 2006, we actually seen the train come over thr crest of the first drop so slow me and another crew member swear the train may have actually stopped for a few seconds. Of course, the train was empty.

I think this is a consequence of not greasing the track enough (or at all).

If only Hurler could run again like it did in 2002. It was insane.
