Hello all,
As a life long North Carolinian, I always try to visit at least twice every season. When I first visited in 93, the premier attraction was the Vortex. Exciting seeing how the park has evolved and Will continue to evolve since then. I can definately see Carowinds in the future rivaling more renowned parks such as Cedar Point. Anyway I visited the park yesterday for the first time this season, it was not very crowded so every ride, including Fury was pretty much a walk up. The person manning the platform entrance would actually tell you to take any lane you want. So that meant a lot of reps in the front seat. I think the high temperatures and showery forecast discouraged people from attending. An afternoon thunderstorm did shut down the rides for about an hour but other than that the weather was fine. Thunder Road is definately gone. No evidence it even existed other than a "memorial" at the former entrance. Was not overally impressed with the "new" water park. Just pretty much more waterslides. Usually when I go to the water park I just chill in one of the wave pools and the lazy river. Did not ride Nighthawk this visit. While I think it's a fun ride, getting on and off just seems to be a pretty big chore. Also Windseeker seemed to be screwing up again. It was closed for a pretty long time and they were doing a lot of empty test cycles. As much as I despise that ride (don't like heights) I always try to ride at least once per visit.
