General Carowinds discussion

Well, it looks like 2005 is going to a busy year for the construction crews at Carowinds. Check out the Boomerangs starting to fly, while the rumor mill gets a going.
New Rumors:
Thunder Road is going to be removed after the 2005  .... Could be getting a new/old Logo, and it's paint job finished soon.
Removal of the Frenzoid in 2006 for a go-kart track.

They should retheme country fair into like "Racing City" because there might be go-karts, there's tunder road (which is supposed to race), bumper cars (more vehicles) and the action FX theater (which has shown days of thunder). A racing theme would work very well. I guess it would be a carolina theme, enough rednecks here like Nascar.

Nut- Are these really rumors you hear or are they your rumors?

I just dont see the removal of thunder road, maybe some reconstruction to parts of it and re-working/painting...but not removal. Especially if they have done work on it this year, it would be stupid to improve a coaster that youa re going to tear down the next year (it becomes a waste of money). The removal of frenzoid is very possible, but not sure about for a go-kart track. Current rumor i've heard is that Frenzoid and WhiteWater Falls may be removed to make room for the expansion and retheming of the waterpark into boomerang bay for the 2006 season (the expansion seems very likely considering the fact that the park had a survey on parkfeedback.com or w/e that had many possibilities of new waterpark attractions). Hopefully they will turn thunder road back into a racer, it would certainly increase its popularity.

First off, I agree with Cephas.
Second, Thunder Road is NOT being removed, I was joking around. Why the sign is gone, I believe it will return later.
Third, the removal of Frenzoid is going to happen soon. Maybe not 2005,2006, 2007, but by 2008 it will gone.
Fourth, I started the rumors of Boomerang Bay in 2004, White Water Falls may or may not be removed. It doubt it will be removed for the waterpark because of it's location to the waterpark.
Fifth, unless Abyss goes two, I predict the water park will not invade the County Fair.
Sixth, Boomerangs will be flying in 2006 or 2007.

I heard that for Boomerang Bay, they are not able to expand around Thunder Road for various reasons, and would be unable to expand under it to the other side (very costly reconstruction of parts of the coaster...not feasible). I dont remember where i heard the rumor anymore, but they stated that the expansion may invade the area where Frenzoid are and WWF (they also stated they have been slowly trying to close the two down for the past year or two). This would be logical as the water park is directly behind the two (through a thin layer of trees you can see the water park area)

The waterpark can not go around Thunder Road, Carowinds Blvd is too close. However, it could go under Thunder Road(w/o dismantling TR) but that would mess with the maintance road for TR.

<a href='http://terraserver.microsoft.com/addressimage.aspx?T=4&S=8&Alon=-80.949783&Alat=35.100646&W=1&opt=0&qs=14523+Carowinds+Boulevard%7c%7cNC&addr=14523+Carowinds+Blvd%2c+Charlotte%2c+NC+28273&Lon=-80.9434988&Lat=35.10122836' target='_blank'>http://terraserver.microsoft.com/addressim...Lat=35.10122836</a>

Expanding into the County Fair would cause an oversized dead end unless a third gate is opened, and I don't see that.

I would look for removal of SquirtWorks(waste of space), and expansion into the employee parking again.

I would nice if Carowinds would move the waterpark to that piece of land across Ave. of the Carolinas(next to the mall). There is 65 acres of land there. They could spread the park out, have nice landscaping, and penlty of room to expand. As for admission, have a two for one ticket, and include it in the Season Pass. That way, Carowinds could really say that you are getting "Two parks in one". The waterpark is a waste, and I wouldn't count it as "a park", more like "1/2 a park".

Add some damn shade trees!

You heard those rumors from Screamscape, which I sent in! They can go under Thunder Road without dismantling and rebuilding it b/c there are roadways under it already. PKD has already done it.

If Carowinds adds BB in the coming years then you can just say goodbye to WWF & Frenzoid. They will not go around TR but they can take the employee parking lot which is a huge space.

The removal of Frenzoid for a waterpark expansion relies on WWF being removed too. The area in question is too big for both to removed. Frenzoid will not be removed for a waterpark expansion unless the abyss is moved or removed.

We need a sign telling us slides to expect before I can say for sure what could happen. On side note:If Carowinds goes for what is new from ProSlide than we would get a Master Blaster, if they go with PKI, than we will get a Tornado(YAY! :) )

And where would the employees park?

Well it wouldn't be the first time that the Employee lot has been used for the Water Park. It used to be twice the size of what it is now.

Yes, but that was before the gravel lot was used. The employee lots are already way over-crowded now and barely hold enough cars on busy operating days. I mean, I guess they can use the campground for employees, but that is still all up in the air.

If BB took up the employee parking then the park would pave a new huge parking lot where the gravel one is and expand it where the campground was.

If needed the currect employee parking lot could be taken no problem. Just means employees would have to walk a bit further to the entrance but not too bad.
